Exactly...people lost their homes and lives and we worried about hitting a port...smh

It's a shame indeed, we were in Florida on vacation during the storm, felt bad for those who we talked to that experienced damage/lack of power, etc.

That said, I'm trying to figure out whether if it's 'worth' booking either cruise I'm looking @ in January that hit both Freeport & Nassau.

If no port substitution in the cards, will probably book a land trip

Just trying to gift my kid the best cruise, no hatin

Freeport is terrible. You will not be missing anything. If they do go stay on the boat.

???? What is so terrible about it? Grand Bahama Island has so many options both on land on on water. Great beaches accessible for free or as part of an all-inclusive resort. Above average snorkeling and diving. Several really good restaurants. Interesting history tours. Hiking the Lucayan National Forest and on and on.

While it is not my favorite port, you are correct it is not terrible. There are many things to do and see.

LEaving on Sunday 10/30. Stopping during the week. We have gone to Freeport a couple of times and love it! WE go to the Grand Lucyan Resort and purchase a day pass. Beach, Pool, CAsino! It is awesome. But I know that area was hit terribly hard, Resort closed until mid Nov. Feel terrible for the residence. No word from Carnival what we are doing.

There is a beach that is supposed to be nice but other than that zero interest for us.

Went there about 20 years ago on our first cruise and on our excursion the highlight was the nap I took when going to our first stop.

Have managed to never go back.

the beach you are thinking of could be TAINO BEACH very private
