Troykahack, what's wrong with status? I cruise because I love cruising but if something is offered why not take advantage of it. I also get a casino rate when I book. Should I turn that down also.

When you book a cruise if an onboard credit is offered do you turn it down?

Hello!

I'm sure you have had a lot or response to your question... If I may put my 2 cents in?!?!

It's not the issue with taking advantage of what they are offering you. I believe peoples issue is that you want to take advantage of something that you are NOT YET eligible to receive.

That being said... My next cruise on Harmony my husband I and are staying in a GS. We are afforded Suite Class Perks such as the Suite Lounge and Barefoot Beach Cabana Club. If you were on the same cruise should you be allowed to take advantage of the perks I receive if you are not staying in a Suite?

I think not!! Just play by the rules use the CL when you ACTUALLY become D+. (Which is after your next cruise)

Just Saying!

Enjoy your NOS cruise John! Still have not been on that one either.

Will be interesting checking out the Rhapsody for the first time on Saturday.

We have not made it onboard all of the ships in the fleet yet (still long way

to go )....but I promise to keep working on it. Tough goal... if I ever do

make it...but sure will be fun getting there! :D

I'm not going, just Laura. :(

Our friends John and Kay are the ones turning PC, so Kay coerced Laura into joining them. ;)

We are going on the Rhapsody Dec. 31st for a 8 day cruise. We are Diamond and we need one more cruise day to be Diamond Plus. I know we are eligible to go to the Dia. Lounge but was wondering if after the one day onboard we would be able to go to the concierge lounge.

Joe

Going to talk to concierge anyhow. 🙄

Hello again!

Your second response is exactly why I sent my original! You clearly think/feel that the RULES are above you!

Why can't you simply just go by the rules. I know the old adage "You never know unless you ask" but it's folks like you who ruin it for everyone!

Go ahead and do what you would like (because you have already made your mind up), but I'm hoping the Concierge tells you ABSOLUTELY NOT!

I am curious as to why you feel this way. Are you going to be on the same sailing as the OP? Will he/she be taking something away from you personally if the Concierge grants his request? Who is being hurt if the Concierge chooses to extend a courtesy to a loyal passenger?

John

Did you get an email from Royal to board by deck number?? I see several complaining about lengthy times waiting in line outside to enter the Terminal.

Report back on your boarding times. Thanks

No email on boarding times yet, I plan on dropping her off around 11:30 or so.

Leaving home around 8AM

I feel the same as MAlagich. Rules are rules, without them we are just savages.

"Savages" - wow. I didn't realize how precious DL and CL exclusivity are to some people.

I'll make sure to turn off all the lights in my stateroom before leaving for dinner lest I be branded a "savage".

First Tobey thanks for your response... That being said I have quoted my original comments regarding this particular thread. The rules are in place for a reason. While I am not cruising with the OP, yes that is exactly what can happen if EVERYONE who was 1 cruise day away from gaining the next level.

Again I will defer to us cruising in a GS. Should you be afforded the same perks as myself if you are not in a Suite?

Points taken. However, hear me out:

1. In reality, how many people on a given cruise will be "1 cruise day away" from D+? I'd bet less than a handful. The Concierge is fully aware how many CL-eligible cruisers are on board. If he makes a determination that he can afford a concession or two, isn't that up to him?

2. Staying in a non-suite vs. GS and receiving the subsequent perks is a specious analogy at best, as it is doubtful RCI would extend suite benefits as a concession to anyone. The Suite passenger has paid significantly more money for his stateroom, and is thus deserving of the accompanying perks. A passenger with 174 cruise credits (1 short of D+) plus an additional day or two on the current cruise has already proven his loyalty. If RCI chooses to offer him a perk or two it is really up to them.

I completely understand where you are coming from, but I completely have to disagree.

Point taken about Suite vs. Non Suite... However what if we were talking about a Pinnacle Member (who basically get Suite Perks even when staying in an inside cabin). They would have paid significantly less then myself but still get the same perks!

So while you are correct in the aspect the RCCL can and will do what they want... The OP should ONLY receive what perks they are entitled to when they started the cruise NOT what the next level is (even if only 1 Cruise Day away)!

You're close, just schedule one

Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app

I probably will...but solo pricing has been thru the roof lately...and I need to schedule it after Feb. 16th...but before Sept. 14th...not an ideal time frame...;)

Do you use WAZE.... we find it to be very useful for the trip south.

We left a 830 to go to FLL and didn't get on the ship until almost 2. Traffic problems were bad south of WPB. Several times we were at a craw.

You will save some time not having to find a parking place at Miami.

I actually am glad you are staying... I would miss you otherwise. Somebody has to keep me straight..

Maybe sometime we might sail together, I bet we both have plenty of fun stories to share from cruises.... that might not be Politically Correct here.

Except for the fact that the Pinnacle member has likely spent much more money(over time) to reach that lofty status. The amount paid for a suite on a 7-day cruise pales in comparison to what the Pinnacle member has spent. You would have to agree that they have earned and deserve whatever perks they are entitled to.

As to your second point, by the letter of the law you are correct. and I agree. But to my way of thinking, getting afforded the extra cruise credit in advance is a lot more "fair" than getting, say, a complimentary upgrade to a suite. The cruise credit day has technically not been earned yet, but it will be in a week or two. The suite on the other hand is an outright gift from RCI, neither paid for nor earned.

There are 2 blocks for sale today on eBay

Enchantment and vision

Same seller. I bought all his D and above pins. I plan to pass out to bartenders in Concierge Lounge next month on Allure. On Serenade, they cherished those pins. He was going to contact me if he could get a MJ block.

First of all, I do not think or feel that I am above the RULES!

I stand in line and wait my turn, ALWAYS!

I hold the door open and say thank you!

I am courteous to everyone who I come in contact with!

I always treat my fellow passengers and every crew member with the utmost respect.

How dare you say that" It's folks like me that ruin it for everyone"

You don't know me!!

It does sorta imply you know the rules but plan to try to go around them anyway. Just say'n

Pretty sure Pinnacle is the only level that you earn while onboard. I'll actually be able to verify this next week. The part I am unsure about is weather or not you have the new status for the entire voyage, even if you don't hit 700 until several days in. It may be up to the ships management.

There seems to be an inconsistency here, John, depending on ship: ie; on the Vision last January, a friend became Pinnacle and received her Gold Card the same day. I just got off a B2B on Freedom and on both sailngs, those who reached Pinnacle were recognized, but were told they needed to wait until the next sailing for their Gold Card. One of them was on a B2B and reached Pinnacle on the first leg; she did not receive her Gold Card for the next leg and had to go to Guest Services on the morning of disembarking the second leg. I am sure that was an oversight, but apparently receiving your Gold Card on the cruise you attain Pinnacle is not practiced fleet-wide. I've seen it done on some ships and not on others.

I had thought from what I read on CC that it was a PS understood that they received the perks right away. After that many cruise nights IMO they deserve it.

Lots of things seem ship dependent, no worries. We have trips scheduled right after our ascension to PC. I'll have plenty of opportunities to find out what the practice on Oasis is.

it's a shame the whole Pinnacle presentation is so inconsistent. Laura scheduled a cruise to join friends for their PC cruise, and we have friends doing the same for ours.

That had always been my belief as well, but as I said, recognition of attaining Pinnacle, yes, but receiving other perks starting with that sailing including the Gold Card as evidenced on my Freedom sailings Nov. 20th and 26th was not the case.

I guess the positive is a Pinnacle cruiser usually has an upcoming cruise in the near future. :)
