Linking 2 back to back cruises

Almost as soon as you board the first cruise, the onboard guess services will become aware of your scheduled second cruise. You'll receive a phone call to your cabin towards the end of the first cruise asking if you have any specific dining or reservation preferences for you second cruise, and they'll roll over your credit card to the second cruise automatically .

Of course you can always just stop by guess services and speak to them once you board the first cruise

I called princess. Also wanted to make sure my account from segment 1 rolled into segment 2.

Your Credit Card will Roll to your second Cruise. Your account will close and start over.

We tend to take lots of B2B cruises on Princess.

You are automatically linked into your second sailing! No problem. :)

It is not automatic.

Your booking agent (TA or at Princess) had to do the linking.

With a good TA or Princess agent, it will look automatic to you.

We have never received a phone call to ask us that. However the headwaiter in our dining room has always stopped by towards the end of the first segment to ask if we want the same dining arrangement or not.

We have always had the account balances roll over to the second segment.

How do you tell that the 2 cruises are linked together?

Providing you are in the same cabin, you will receive one cruise card that mentions your initial boarding date and final disembark date. If it doesn't visit passenger services.

I have had phone calls, I have had a note sent to my cabin to stop by and see the Matride and I have had them stop by and ask us at dinner.

I find this inconsistent.

having done quite a few b2b's, No one ever contacted us at the end of the first leg for any reason.

In Ft. Lauderdale at the end of the first leg, we had to wait around in the morning to eventually meet in a room and be escorted off the ship into a waiting area and then reboard.

Same cruise booked as one (meaning instead of 2 ten day legs, one 20 day trip) none of this nonsense applies.

We have done 11 turnarounds and have always had our on board accounts rolled over. We have never received any phone calls or inquiries from the dining department regarding future reservations. This may be because we don't book specialty dining very often, so they don't know us.

I cruise BACK TO BACK a lot on different cruise lines.

I prefer to close my first account. I always go on the day before the last day to remind the front desk that I am "IN TRANSIT", and I am given a TRANSIT Card and we all sit together as a group by 11 a.m. We then go to the section were we sit at and wait for us to be called first to board the ship again.

I just take my passport and my purse to be checked in by Customs.

Some cruisers choose to get off the ship and go explore Los Angeles and then return to the ship before it leaves the port.

If I have to change cabins I go tell the new cabin steward of my new cabin location so I can move my things to the new location. I have a controlling personality so I prefer to move my things from one cabin to the other cabin.

The cabin stewards are supposed to do it for you but I prefer to make sure that my things have been moved by ME. LOL.

I was on the Ruby Princess recently so the computer will remember me and give me the few minutes left on the computer in my account. lol.

I will be returning soon on the ship for my birthday.

A turn-around day question from a previous post stating "Same Cruise Booked As One - None Of This Nonsense Applies". Are B2B cruises made up of 2 separately booked cruise segments treated any differently for the turn-around day procedures than when booked as one cruise? Our experience has been no difference.

Have not experienced a different treatment for one booking means to another on turnaround day since we also had the same cabin for 2 separate booking.

Right. No difference except you can be 100% sure that your onboard account will continue to the second segment since it is a single cruise that you booked.

Even when booked as a single cruise, if we are in traditional dining we are asked by the headwaiter if we want to continue at the same table in the same dining room at the same time (early or late) for the 2nd segment.

By the way, staying at the same table does not guarantee the same waitstaff. We have been on cruises where the waitstaff was transferred to another dining room between segments.

No matter which way booked, if you are platinum or elite you will get at the start of each segment an Internet package based on that segment's length. And if you are elite, you will get a new mini-bar setup at the start of the second segment.

However, if booked as a single cruise, the stockholder OBS, military OBC and OBC from using an FCC will be basew on the total number of days in your cruise, not by segment.

Interesting responses to the OP's question. We did two different B2B cruises this year. Both times the onboard account rolled over - actually it just never stopped until the end of the second cruise. At the start of the second part, the OBC for that cruise was added to the account. Our internet minutes remained from the first cruise until we expended them. We had to then re-establish the internet accounts with the new minutes loaded.

The first B2B was out of a USA port where we had to meet in the lounge by a certain time (9:30 or so if I remember correctly) and were escorted along with passports off the ship and presented to USA immigration. We then joined everyone in the waiting area to reboard but were the first to be allowed back onboard, a wait of about 20 minutes or so.

The second B2B was in the UK and we had a ship excursion to Stonehenge. We were taken off as a group, passed through UK authorities and put on a bus. On return to the ship we went through security and then right back on the ship. Neither time did we have to go to the mandatory safety briefing on the second half of the B2B which was nice.

We booked through Princess and they linked the two cruises together.

However ... in August of this year we enjoyed a B2B on the Emerald Princess, two 14 day cruises in a row. We very much enjoyed our waitstaff on the first leg and requested them for the second leg. They were initially scheduled to rotate to another dining room but because of our request, they stayed with us, same table as well.

BTW - it has been noted that on turnaround days one must disembark so the ship can be cleared. While it is certainly true for US ports, if your turnaround is not in the US, this may not be the case. We did not have to disembark and clear the ship in Southampton UK. Good thing too, the weather was miserable that day.
