amyh13 Posted January 8, 2017 #28 Share Posted January 8, 2017 For family of 4, balcony Deck 8, foward, port. First week of April (spring break), 6 day (Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel). Slightly under $3000. The good news is we had a 20% credit and got it for a little less than $2500. All of us are gold, except for my DD 7, who will turn gold on this trip. It was a casino rate (obviously not very good but cheaper than the special VIFP offers that I could get). We are going with our neighbors. They have only been on one cruise (Carnival) and got the same casino offer. I forgot to say we booked in November 2016 for April 2017. tallnthensome Posted January 8, 2017 Author #31 Share Posted January 8, 2017 Booked 11/30/15 for 2/25/17. 2adults, 2 kids, 8 nights Originally booked 4G Interior ITEMIZED CHARGES All Charges are quoted in USD CRUISE CHARGES Cruise Rate$1,818.00 Taxes, Fees & Port Expenses$484.08 Total Cruise Charges$2,302.08 On 8/31/16 we received an offer to upgrade to: 6M Deluxe Oceanview for $80 total CRUISE CHARGES Cruise Rate$1,898.00 Taxes, Fees & Port Expenses$484.08 Total Cruise Charges$2,382.08 Sent from my iPhone using Forums $2382 for 4 in an oceanview is a very good rate. As the OP it is pretty apparent that booking in 2015 when it first opened offered some of the best fairs. I booked in March 2016 for 17. I mocked booked our exact cruise on Vista for April 17 for April 18 the other day and it was $1000 more! :eek:I wasn't really impressed with the rates on the Vista when I booked as I thought the fares were high. Looking at the $1000 increase for 2018 makes me think the fare we paid isn't that bad now. I think 2018 is going to be year that prices jump substantially across the board. We are on the MSC Seaside for 2018.

bizzybee902 Posted January 8, 2017 #33 Share Posted January 8, 2017 Thanks everyone for posting. These prices helps me decide on if the 8 day is a better value since I'm solo and the prices are not dropping. I'm looking at March, April, May or June 2017. Instead of taking two cruises this year; I may just do an 8 day. Now I just have to plan around grad school (Spring break is March 14- 20; classes ends May 14; Commencement is not scheduled yet :-( ), work, and Matt (Sorry, but I love Matt and can't risk having a bad cruise director, too bad he's on break in March). Thanks everyone. Sent from my SGH-T999L using Forums mobile app

Brown815 Posted January 8, 2017 #42 Share Posted January 8, 2017 We booked in early September for the April 16, 2017 sailing on the 6-day Western Caribbean route. 2 people, VIFP Gold, deluxe oceanview room... $644 pp base fare, $763.52 with taxes and port fees, not including gratuity or travel insurance. We also got $50 OBC. I can only sail during winter and spring breaks, and a couple of weeks in the summer, because I am a school administrator. Otherwise I would have gone with a less expensive rate on another date.

I hope Vista is worth the extra cheddar !Are you saying you always book two inside spa rooms with 4 of your kids in each at $1700-$1800? Out of curiosity I did a mock booking with your details and it was indeed $1800 (minus gratuities). When I add grats and vacation protection it's still a thousand cheaper on the Dream as you stated. Goes to show you how expensive the Vista really is and I have said for quite some time. I hope it's worth the cheddar too!
