TonyL128 Posted January 22, 2017 #176 Share Posted January 22, 2017 Mixed opinion... For $16 it wasn't too bad. Would I pay the full on board price of $25, no. Then again, at $42 for Chops I think is crazy. Service wise, could be hit or miss. When asked about getting ice cream, table next to us had it (no idea if they were black card holders), we were told no. Same thing with getting some fries, saw another table with them, told no. Overall, not knowing the details, I would say it is a stretch the actions of the breakfast or lunch crew impacting dinner service. Then again, my view of it during breakfast and lunch is Windjammer mini. Sent from a mobile device Our Solarium Bistro experience was, 1) selection was really limited, 2) service was not even as good as the Windjammer. So, we didn't think the $20/person charge for dinner would have been worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

But mainly that was attributed to the "no" on fries and ice cream. Sparkling waters were kept topped off, plates cleared quickly once set aside. Getting the check was on the slow side. Only other complaint would have been the lamb chops being a touch over done. Just keep in mind only a quarter, if that many, of the tables were filled. chandom Posted January 22, 2017 Author #178 Share Posted January 22, 2017 (edited) Just as a FYI, still packing things up. Was 100% unmotivated to do the process. First time ever I'll do standard disembarking with carry off (Yes, one of them. But I only have the one bag plus "big" camera that wasn't really used. With that, my morning post will be delayed a bit. Sent from a mobile device Edited January 22, 2017 by chandom
chandom Posted January 22, 2017 Author #179 Share Posted January 22, 2017 (edited) Finally got done packing. That also brings me to my biggest tip! Leave extra room in your suitcase. If it is stuffed leaving home, it will end up overstuffed going home. For those that are wondering, here is the "Central Park Balcony" wine. *Might vary ship to ship/sailing to sailing. **Never asked about using it as "trade in" for something else. chandom Posted January 22, 2017 Author #180 Share Posted January 22, 2017 (edited) So here is my quick recap for Day 7. I'll post something more detailed later today. Best summed up as: Galley tour, adult beverages, eat (lunch), rest, adult beverage times ???, eat (dinner), mingle (with adult beverage), adult beverage times ???, gamble, adult beverage, say good bye to beverage staff, procrastinate, pack, post. Please, before anyone gets the idea I'm an alcoholic based on this post or any others. Trust me I'm not. At home, rarely touch the stuff. Maybe once a month I might go after a bit of something, but never in excess or to the implied level. TonyL128 Posted January 22, 2017 #181 Share Posted January 22, 2017 Even though, we have been on Oasis 3X in the last two months, it was a pleasure to follow your cruises. Your post will keep us in touch with Oasis until Feb when we sail again. Thanks for the updates. Oasis is our favorite ship. molly361 Posted January 22, 2017 #182 Share Posted January 22, 2017 Thanks for taking us along. Let us know how your disembarkation goes. We used self assist last month and it was not a very smooth process like it was when the ship was in Ft Lauderdale. It took us around an hour to get off and thru customs. Rare island lady Posted January 22, 2017 #183 Share Posted January 22, 2017 Chandom is probably off the ship by now, and we are headed out in about an hour, luggage already in the vehicle. Doing the short drive to Park N Cruise to drop our little Ford off for the shuttle to the terminal. My turn now! :) Thanks Chandom, for the great review. Safe travels back home! :)

CruisinCons Posted January 22, 2017 #190 Share Posted January 22, 2017 Oasis doesn't use the WOW bands, correct? We still have ours from the Quantum in 2015; I read in another thread you can bring them back from a previous use and have it set up for your current cruise, but they were talking about Harmony. I don't think I've seen anyone mention them in relation to Oasis.

chandom Posted January 22, 2017 Author #192 Share Posted January 22, 2017 (edited) So here I am at home typing this up. Looking back this previous week was a blast and a blur. Here is the slightly longer recap of Day 7. This morning was the Diamond Plus galley tour. Start time was 10:00am finish time was a whole 15 or 20 minutes later. Met in the deck 4 dining room lobby, walked in the starboard side entrance. This was where the dirty dishes were dropped off for cleaning. Passed by the bar “cage” heading to the cook line where the turkey breasts were being prepared along with hamburgers that were being served for lunch. After the tour headed over to Windjammer just to do some recon/stepping foot inside during breakfast. Didn’t go away empty handed, grabbed a coffee cup with a few hard-cooked eggs to eat before leaving. I would rather not make the trek to a food venue the final morning. Was going to look at the Solarium Bistro for breakfast as well, but it was closed by the time I made it over. Eventually around 11:00 I made it back to my go to location, the Champagne Bar. Around 11:30 or noon, went to give the main dining room a shot for lunch after seeing the burgers being cooked during the galley tour. Left there stuffed around 1pm after visiting the buffet spread and having multiple appetizers and an entrée. Headed back to the room to recharge my phone/camera then did some roaming where I wound up once again at the Champagne Bar. At 5pm headed over to the Trellis Bar to meet up the folks I was traveling with, 5:30 dinner in the Main Dining Room. Left there and head up to Café Promenade, wound up watching the Dream Works Farewell parade. After that, stuck around in Café Promenade until the casino raffle drawing. To get a ticket for it you either win them from the free spin machine. After the drawing, stuck around in the casino for the last chance of hitting it big. After not hitting it big, I hit the Champagne Bar for one final time. After seeing the “time to wrap up your vacation” message on the TV screen, I knew it was that time. Said my good byes to the Champagne Bar staff and jumped over to Cafe Promenade to tell someone else looking forward to seeing them on Harmony. Finally made it back to the cabin around 1am to finally start packing, around 3am I was packed and went to bed. I normally don’t carry off a large suitcase, but my procrastination and lack of desire to pack before 11pm made it a requirement. The one great thing in Port Canaveral’s Terminal 1 is the switchback ramp going from the second level to the first level. No need to worry about a free hand for an escalator or waiting for an elevator. All in all, from getting number called, ding out with group 15, until waiting for a taxi back to the hotel was about 35 minutes (8:15-8:50). Thank again all for following along, I'll be doing this again in 110 days for Harmony! Edited January 23, 2017 by chandom

chandom Posted January 23, 2017 Author #199 Share Posted January 23, 2017 Eager to read your thoughts on the hotel & their shuttle. I will be using them in June. (When did you reserve your shuttle time, before or after arriving at hotel?) The shuttle service is handed over to 888 Taxi. Time (9:45) was requested at check-in. First time using it October it was great. They used a large shuttle bus due to the number of people. This time around, only 6 people. So 888 Taxi dispatch sent a minivan. That van was a game of Tetris trying to fit luggage everywhere. Was this menu the same all week? Did the line for lunch in the MDR move quickly? Sorry, not sure if the menu changes. Same thing with movement of the line. We happened to get there first thing, so no line and immediately seated. Loved following along with you and am even more excited for our trip in March! Will you be uploading the cruise compasses here or to the RCL blog? I'd love to see a copy of everything! RCB has been given a link to the Compasses. I'll post it here once they have been published of if I don't hear back sooner. Sent from a mobile device
