Hi everyone !!

We are travelling in a group(family and friends) for an Alaskan cruise.

A fee information about us: been on severals cruises and enjoy Blu and Aqua class when travelling with Celebrity. However we dont mind traveling in an inside cabins( when we trave other line we usually go for an inside).

We are debating if a balcony cabin is a must. We are afraid that we won't be using much of it since we will hang with our family and friends.

We will be on the Millie June 2018.

Thank you for your input!!!

If your cruise goes to see any glaciers, I highly recommend an aft balcony. Wonderful.

IMO a balcony cabin (or at least an oceanview) is a must for an AK cruise. The entire inside passage is incredibly scenic and you don't want to miss out. My husband and I spent many hours on our balcony just enjoying the incredible views.

I would also seriously look at cabin types re aft cabins....There are a few large 'family verandas' that sleep up to 5...The verandas are large enough for several guests to enjoy.

We have been in aft cabins twice to Alaska. Although we did spend time on our own balcony, we were all over the ship looking at the views from different vantage points. The main reason we always get balconies is because we like to walk out and feel the breeze, have breakfast while pulling into port (room service breakfast is the best!) and not feel cooped up. We don't spend a great deal of time just sitting out there but we do like to pop in and out.

Bring your best binoculars. The ones the ship provides are $3.00 toys, honestly.

Bring layers. The day cruising the glacier is cold. My favorite layering piece is a hip-length Gore Tex very lightweight hooded zip jacket. I wear it everywhere. End of season sale at Cabela's for about $75 which was half price.

We found the Alaska cruises very interesting. Never once did we feel like going to the casino or doing much else besides looking at the scenery and following the naturalist's cues as to when and where to look for certain wildlife. We had some great days in port, doing more active things like hiking and kayaking - all really fun for a group.

We like balconies AND for sure would be out on the top decks too for 360 degree views and to be with our fellow cruisers.

We still tend to get balconies as I like to go out on them while DW is dressing, in the hopes of seeing something without having to be fully dressed and time to go to a public access point to view.

The weather in Alaska, on our 2 cruises, has been warm and on one very dry, so cold was not an issue for us. In the inside passage cruises, we have seen whales from our balcony. Also had heavy fog where you could not see anything.

It is just a matter of what you want. We have sailed in inside/oceanview/balcony/suite category.

Try one and if you don't like, book again in a different category! :) A second trip is great too!

We are AQ 1140 smack dab in the middle aft on Millennium... Probably only doing this once... go all the way.

ps... we are on the tour portion from Fairbanks the week before.

With the exception of the flag being in the way you will love this room. The overhang is deep so you won't have any issues if there is rain. Also all you have to do to get to the buffet is to step outside your cabin, turn to the left or right, walk to the end of the hall, turn left or right, and go down the outside stairs and you are right there. I would take this room in a heartbeat if it were offered to us.

We also had this cabin. Loved the fact that we could utilize the outside stairs as a means to getting to the buffet. Hated the location of the flag.
