But granted, Luggage Valet is very convenient, so there are times when we are willing to take the additional risk of using it, depending on the circumstances.

Most passengers who use it rave about it,

until the first time their bags don't show up.

Taking that in mind, on the last cruise we didn't drive to we used the RC equivalent. Waved bye to the bags the night before debarkation and off to Fort Lauderdale airport in the morning.

The entire Northeast was a complete weather clusterflock. Even though we were US Airways connecting through Charlotte to DFW, there were obviously ripple effects. We were delayed twice, then cancelled, then they still managed to get us to Charlotte in time to catch the last flight of the night to DFW. We did not have warm fuzzies about the luggage, but when we arrived at DFW the bags had already made it... those little bastards got to fly direct on American (but they didn't get to spend the layover in Charlotte at the US Airways club either).

Though you can win the first game of the season and finish it at 1-15, I'd be willing to try this again. Would rather be at home waiting for my clothes to show up than at the port waiting to board nervously counting down.

Out of curiosity, Luggage Person, they put an extra "Priority" tag on the bags when we go first-class. Is that just to make us feel special, or do they really keep a better eye on those to make sure they get where they're supposed to?

Some may not find it manly for the bags to be a magenta-plum color, but I've got them and am headed to Ground Transport while everyone else is at the carousel sorting out which virtually-identical black bags are theirs. And thanks to modern technology, I never travel anywhere without photos of my luggage on my phone.

"What did they look like sir? Oh, I see..."

And these are just two examples in recent times when they act irrationally and then either have to back-track or remain mum (which only makes them look worse). It is indicative of poor management at the corporate level.

An excellent summation of many points of contention that have been brought up over the recent years, most of which appear to be due to cuts in housekeeping and dining staff.

Amusing since the expense of the additional staff needed, would easily be paid for with a slight fare increase since a big chunk of their earnings come from tips. I never had a problem tipping the assistant room steward or the assistant waiter, NEVER, AND ALWAYS TIPPED EXTRA BECAUSE THE SERVICE WAS ALWAYS BETTER.

May I ask where did you get your information? So far, it had been reported that Valet Service is only on Eclipse on the trial basis.

we just got off the Eclipse. The Valet service is back to stay(according to guest services)So make use of it! We were asked to vacate by 8AM, Which we did.

Not sure but I can report that I have never seen my luggage out on the carousel so quickly as it was the couple of times it had the 'priority' sticker on it. I mean, our bags were in the first 7 ones to hit the turnstyle and all the others in that group also had the priority stickers on them. I don't fly first class often so cannot tell you if it was just coincidence or not but it makes sense that the airlines do more for you when you pay more for your tickets.

I can speak to Delta first class where it is definitely not coincidence. The first class priority sticker means your bags will be in the very first group on the carousel. Just one of the reasons I prefer Delta.

Additionally, we disembarked Reflection Feb 4th. Luggage Valet was available. Our friends are Elite Plus and were in a suite - they did have to pay, but said it is worth it for them. In the past they did not have to pay.

We were asked to vacate staterooms by 8 am.

We know their President goes on at least one cruise a year. An engaged executive would know what changes in policy her staff were implementing.

I am sure when the president of Celebrity is escorted from limo to ship and then to the Reflection suite as well as everywhere else on the ship and for every moment of the voyage the experience is a little different than what us mere mortals can expect. LOL

Whether or not those priority stickers really get your bags out first has more to do with the bag handlers at the airport than anything. DCA is notorious for having terrible baggage service and I'd say it's been 50/50 on whether or not it happens. Other airports have been closer to 100% but it's not always a given.

We were on the 1/21 Reflection and had to be out of our room before 8. We just went to the Opus dining room and had a leisurely breakfast and got off around 9. We did not receive any notice about Luggage Valet. I was looking for it too, because we had someone in a wheelchair with us.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just off the Equinox Friday used the service after Celebrity suggested it was a good way to use up my $300 OBC . So I went for it.

Simple to use but when I reached Cleveland Ohio only 3 of our 4 bags made it

We are just off the Eclipse.

Used Luggage Valet but the form was never delivered to our cabin (the disembarkation form wasn't delivered either so maybe it was just our steward ???).

Our 3 bags were among the first off the carousel when we reached home.

The only reason I was concerned about not getting the form was that non-use was one of the reasons cited for the discontinuation. If passengers don't get the form and don't know it exists they can't use it.

(BTW - BEST SERVICE EVER !!!!! - We walked right past all of those poor people searching for their luggage in the cruise terminal and again past that LONG line of people checking their luggage in at the airport!!! )

I wish they would bring back daily water in Aqua class. Our April cruise was booked before they discontinued it, and it's an 18 night Sydney to Honolulu so no "free" beverage package. I also miss the sushi in Oceanview because it was perfect for "Happy Hour" and DH would get something else since he is not a sushi fan.

I agree. I enjoyed the sushi in the Oceanview. I couldn't get anybody in our party interested in paying the prices they asked at the sushi restaurant.

Are all airlines participating meaning Canadian Airlines as well?

The original report from Celebrity said domestic only. I did not keep the notice that was in our cabin last month on the Reflection but it included flights to Canada on US airlines except Delta.. and yes we were flying Delta. Hopefully more airlines will be included eventually.

They are no longer using the disembarkation forms. We did not get one on the Reflection last month either and I won't miss that as it always come soon after embarking .. asking .. when are you leaving?!!

We did get the luggage valet form

This wasn't true for the Eclipse.

They WERE using them!

Our friends got one (and , since we were on B2B cruises, we had gotten one on the first cruise).

I went down to guest relations and filled it out there.

Also, asked for and filled out the Luggage Valet form at the same time.
