What's your favorite part of the MDR menu/experience?

We take a cheese plate back to our stateroom and put it in the frig to have later, as a before-bed snack while we relax out on our balcony. :)

Just eat the blue cheese before putting the cheese plate in the fridge. Sis left the blue cheese on the plate and the fridge stunk for the rest of the cruise.

Our cheese plates were only in the frig 3-4 hours or so, and with the cloche on top I never noticed the refrigerator smelling bad for the rest of the cruise. Now maybe if it was left in the frig overnight? I don't know...

As for my favorite part of the dining room experience...I would have to say it's a toss up between not having to cook it myself, and trying new dishes, oh and remembering a really delicious item from a previous cruise that is still on the menu and having it again! :) I could do without the "entertainment" though. Thankfully we had anytime dining on our last cruise and we were usually finished with dinner before it started. :)

What kind of cheeses are on cheese plate?

Also leave the cheese plate on the fridge for short period even with the ice bucket full. Fridge doesn't smell bad. We just dispose leftover and get another small cheese plate the next day or so.

You can probably search for any review that has food porn, but if I remember correctly, there is a small wedge of brie, bleu cheese, swiss and one other....it's whiteish yellow but can't remember the name. And they give you a small sliver of strawberry, a few small grapes and some small pieces of bread with it.

Thanks for the reminder. I posted picture above. I don't remember the 5th cheese lol. And didn't have that much fruit and the bread was plain, but I imagine it varies ship to ship, day to day.

We are driving home from our Miracle cruise and there was a lot to like in the MDR.

The warm rolls with soft butter were a great starter. Many entrees were very good including the short ribs, the tenderloin (they snuck it in only once in place of the not very good flat iron steak) and the mushroom fusilli come to mind.

Everyone was right about the melting cake - it was great. I also loved the orange bread pudding and the caramel sauce that came with many things.

"Showtime" was fun- only twice on a 7 day trip. I hope that the wait staff like it as much as they seem to.

Of course being waited on, and being able to choose anything without checking prices is a real bonus.

I could do without the nightly 6-7 pictures, but it's really quick and painless so I went along.

First of all, if you have chosen YTD instead of early or late, the servers are already getting their portion of your tips. Everyone that has chosen YTD's tips go into a pool and they are dispersed to the crew that serves your meals there. So unless they are providing above and beyond fabulous service, you're double tipping. Also, instead of spending 20.00 on the steakhouse options entree in the MDR, why not spend 35 and enjoy the entire experience in the steakhouse? You can get soup, salad, app, entree, 2 sides and dessert to take back to your cabin. It's great on the last night since it's the best way to finish off your cruise, IMHO.

We know they get the regular tips, but we always tip our cabin staff & dining & bar staff extra. We always either do Chef's Table (4 times) or the Steakhouse (if there is one on the ship) on every cruise. We order from the steakhouse menu in the MDR because we've already been to the Steakhouse or Chef's Table on the same cruise. Our upcoming cruise will be our 17th on Carnival.

For me going to the main dining room for dinner is like going on a fancy date with my hubby every evening. Doesn't matter what we eat, it just matters that we are alone together. Been married 37 years and he is still the one I want to hang out with all the time.

I loved having the whole family at dinner together. We had our three kids, 16, 13, and 11 with us and they really seemed to enjoy the experience as much dh and I did. My kids even ventured out of their comfort zone and ordered new things to try that they otherwise never would have.

On my previous 4 cruises I went with large groups and we were always sat together, this cruise it is just me and my niece. Do they usually sit 2 people with others in the MDR? I hope so because I would like to be able to meet some new people.

If you have traditional seating (early or late), then you can request a table size and they will usually place you with like minded people. If you have anytime dining, then you can request to be seated with others instead of a table for two each and every night as you walk up to the podium.

I loved the ambiance of the MDR! Dinner was fun, but still nice and the menu was great! The wait staff remembered chocolate milk for both my boys with dinner every night, and brought my youngest chocolate ice cream for dessert without being prompted every night as well.

My favorite entre was the prime rib (although the flat iron steak was amaaaaazing as well! VERY close 2nd!) and my favorite dessert was the S'Mores Parfait. O.M.G. was it ever delicious!!
