On the Vista now March 19-25, 2017

Recommended Posts

I hope you don't mind answering this question. I have seen pictures of the outside smoking area on deck 5, but can't figure out where it is on deck 11. If you are on that deck would you mind checking for me? I am really enjoying your pictures and thoughts. Thank you for taking the time to do this great report. Have a great vacation!

This from the website

Hope you are having a great time firemanbobswife but I wish y'all would hurry up and get back so I can hop on her on the 25th. :D

Happy cruising.

We are having a really good time. Maybe the Captain will forget how to get back to Miami and we can stay :D. Actually, I think I'm ready to go home. Haven't felt this way about a cruise besides the second time on the Conquest when I got food poisoning. It's not that I'm having a bad time, it's just that I think I'm ready. Can't really explain it. The ship is nice, the crew is great, love the Havana area. I almost feel homesick for a Conquest Class ship.

I am really glad I came on the Vista and I think everyone should try it, but I think I will stick with the Glory or one of her sister ships. If I do come back, it will only be in a Havana cabin. The main pool areas of the ship are way too crowded. There are areas of the ship I haven't even been in yet. The Liquid Lounge leaves much to be desired for seating. I miss the glass elevators. Not only for the atrium appeal, but because I like to use them. A lot of things I think are done better on Glory and her sisters.

I hope you have a fantastic cruise, though!

Sorry. One other question. If you get any of the Internet packages, does that also then include the Chat feature with the Carnival Hub app or do you still have to pay the $5 for the chat feature to work?

Hub app chat is separate from the internet plans. You can chat if all parties have Facebook Messenger and the Social Plan. If not, you will need to pay $5 each for the Hub App Chat and do it through there. Hope that makes sense.

Oh and one more thing before I turn this off. The other day a bartender told us that the Vista has more bars than other Carnival Ships, yet 11 less Bar Tenders/Bar Waiters and they will be cutting more very soon. I can't remember by how many, but I'll ask my friend if they recall the number. He also said that the only way they will do anything is if people continue to complain directly to Carnival. So if you have slow bar service, make it known on your surveys!

Thanks for your review/updates. My wife and I booked the Vista today for the May 14th sailing. It will be our boys's first cruise, they're twin 7 year olds, so we'll see how that goes! Can't wait and it pushes us to the gold level. :)

I know exactly what you mean. I enjoyed the Sunshine but I really do miss the Conquest class of ships. They are my favorite and my goto class when I can. I'm looking forward to the Havana area myself (5225) and your pics of the Havana pool look beautiful but from what I've heard about the Vista, my next two cruises on the Liberty will be more like being at home. Enjoy your last sea day and make sure to keep her in good shape for me. :D

Okay. My plan was to get the Social plan for me and just the Hub chat for wifey but it sounds like that won't work if they are considered separate. Maybe I'll just forgo the Social plan for me and get Hub Chat for the two of us. Was hoping to not have to search for wifi in ports to send pics to friends back home but find it silly to have to pay for the Hub Chat and Social plan for my phone so I can also keep in contact with my wife on ship. Sounds like an on board decision. Thank you for the info.

Yep. Doesn't work. It's an iPhone 7 Plus so it's actually the power button and the lower volume button. But thanks for the idea!

I have the iPhone 7 plus too but cannot post pictures on here directly from it. Maybe your settings is different. I need to know how to.

Even though we just returned less than a week ago from our last cruise, I've already started my short list of options for next years cruise which included Glory or Vista. This part of your review really helped me and I am now 99% sure Glory is our next ship [emoji568]. I really want to try Vista but Glory sounds like it could be a better fit for what we enjoy the most in cruising. Can't wait to keep reading in case something sways my mind :)

The Havana area is open to anyone on the ship after 700 PM each day. Prior to that, you must be staying in one of the Havana cabins that are located primarily on deck five, with 23 balcony/lanai cabins, 14 inside and 4 suites. There are an additional 2 insides up on deck 7 as well as 10 aft and premium balconies on deck 7 and deck 6. So there are 63 cabins in total. Here's a video of the area.

Thanks so much for posting and answering my questions. Also a HUGE Thank You for posting the Video!

I will post them when I get home. My phone still isn't working, It shuts itself off and then flickers on and off with the Apple home screen. Then the battery drains down to 1%. When it finally charges, it will work fine for a few minutes and repeat the cycle. I may have to do a factory reset at some point. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried a hard reset yet? Hold the power button and the home button down until it turns off and reboots.

First, thanks for taking the time to do a great review while on the ship.

Had the same thing happen to my iphone- it was a hardware problem. They had to replace the phone.

Question - have you noticed any "noise" at night from the area below your Havana Suite? We go to sleep early (10-11 pm) and are light sleepers. Did you hear music, etc?

Thank you so much for your informative posts and pictures. Our family of 6 just put a deposit down for southern Caribbean cruise on the Vista August 2018. This is the earliest we have ever booked. We were on RC Oasis for our last cruise. Really looking forward to this trip.

Firemanbobswife thank you for taking the time to write this review. I am trying to get to sail the Vista soon. One question did you eat at the seafood shack? I apologize if you already mentioned it, but I didn't catch it. I hope you make it home safely.
