phabric Posted March 29, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2017 I was just thinking. If you do not call and cancel your cruise, what happens to your deposit at final payment? Refundable - The deposit is returned to your credit card that the deposit was taken from? Non refundable - The deposit is lost?
kathywin53 Posted March 29, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2017 Read the cruise contract. I believe the next day after final payment the cancelation policy takes affect and the deposit is gone. Sent from my iPod touch using Forums
JF - retired RRT Posted March 29, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2017 After final payment date, if you don't have insurance, the deposit is 100% gone. If you have insurance and cancel, the insurance will reimburse you. If you don't have insurance & don't cancel, you lose the deposit.
paul929207 Posted March 29, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2017 If you have insurance and cancel, the insurance will reimburse you. Insurance will cover the lost deposit if you reason for cancelling is covered. In other words, if you do NOT have cancel for any reason coverage, you may not get the deposit back from the insurance company.

tonit964 Posted March 29, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 29, 2017 My dad switched cruises and forgot to cancel the cruise on NCL, he thought he did, and he lost his $250 deposit. He'll never do that again.
LDVinNC Posted March 29, 2017 #8 Share Posted March 29, 2017 Some TA's will automatically charge your final payment on the payment date, so cancelling would be a good idea!

Refundable - The deposit is returned to your credit card that the deposit was taken from? Non refundable - The deposit is lost? Read your cruise contract or the information the the company WEB site. It will tell you somewhere. Better yet, maybe you should not read your cruise contract as it will show you that you have absolutely no rights and the cruise company can do anything that they want and you have no legal recourse.
