Looking for opinions/suggestions for tipping for room service ? Do you like to have room service for breakfast or lunch?

If you are on a ship that has transitioned to the new room service menus with the $7.95 charge, that charge is supposed to include gratuity.

We usually only have a pot of coffee delivered and tip a dollar.

The $7.95 charge includes the tip. If you order something that carries no charge, tip $1-2 at time of delivery. It is kitchen staff that delivers, and they aren't part of the pre-paid tip pool.

Ditto, or maybe a bit more if we are impressed with the guy/gal bringing it and how prompt they are.

We use the room service order form that you hang on your door every evening to get a pot of coffee delivered in the morning between 7:30 and 8:00. They always call a couple of minutes before they come so we use it as our wake up call. We tip $2 every day.

We have room service breakfast every morning and sit on the balcony to eat it.

The new hot breakfast is much better than the old cooked breakfast.

I tipped $2-3 before and after the charge was introduced and the waiters are always grateful.

Basic continental breakfast items = no fee

 

Hot breakfast, anything besides the above = $7.95 per delivery no matter how many items are ordered

Thanks. Didn’t realise that and on our July cruise avoided using room service for early morning coffee to avoid the charge!! Oops.

We always enjoy a “pre-breakfast” of fruit and coffee on our balcony. No charge and we tip $2 every morning. I make sure I bring enough $1 bills with me specifically for this purpose.
