maryann ns Posted May 31, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 31, 2017 New Glasgow lobster suppers may not have the freshest of lobster. On the way to Peggy's Cove outside Halifax check out Ryer's Lobster which cooks it for you and gives you want you need to enjoy it on the spot: https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review-g635951-d2252615-Reviews-Ryer_Lobsters-Indian_Harbour_Halifax_Region_Nova_Scotia.html You should be able to get fresh lobster in Sydney: https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review-g181763-d765153-Reviews-The_Lobster_Pound_And_Moore-North_Sydney_Cape_Breton_Island_Nova_Scotia.html

chengkp75 Posted June 14, 2017 #10 Share Posted June 14, 2017 Fresh Lobster is seasonal... is it available July/August? Sent from my iPhone using Forums Fresh lobster is not seasonal, but the price depends on how many are hardy enough to go out and fish. What is somewhat seasonal is the difference between soft shell and hard shell lobsters, with about a $3/lb price difference. And, yes, July and August are prime fishing season, but prices will be generally higher due to tourist demand.

Nitemare Posted June 14, 2017 #12 Share Posted June 14, 2017 cheng is right, you can get fresh lobster in New England and Canada all year round. Some areas have "seasons" where they can only fish for lobster in certain months, but they will still have fresh lobsters on hand the rest of the year that they get from other areas where lobster fishing is still going on. maryann ns Posted June 18, 2017 #15 Share Posted June 18, 2017 The best lobster is fresh caught and not sitting in a pound. Here is a chart showing lobster seasons around Nova Scotia. You will see that up to July 20, Sydney would be a good place to get lobster. http://www.tastelobster.ca/images/fishing_regions.pdf For Halifax, if you are not going to Ryer's on the Peggy's Cove Road then a good place downtown is the Bluenose II restaurant: https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review-g154976-d702172-Reviews-Bluenose_2_Restaurant-Halifax_Halifax_Region_Nova_Scotia.html
warthog2608 Posted June 24, 2017 #16 Share Posted June 24, 2017 I loved the West Street Cafe in Bar Harbor. Lobster dinner with all the fixings was $14.95. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
torpeedo Posted June 26, 2017 #17 Share Posted June 26, 2017 Ditto West St Cafe. The Lobster lunch is delicious and includes clam chowder and blueberry pie. Get there early because the line starts to build past 11:30. Also have had great lobster rolls at Stewmans. They have an outside deck for dining which is great as long as the weather is good.
