Seapass colors

Here are the cards with the folio numbers erased:

The original Celebrity Cruises card had seven bars (seas) on each side of the X

For a while there were only elite stickers.

Then Celebrity Cruises was removed and new cards had an < on the left side of the card.

White cards were replaced with basic blue.

Silver/Platinum turned to grey for Suites.

There were no Black Zenith Cards when the program was announced so our basic balcony cabin card (Blue) had the word Zenith printed on it. The gold star on the card indicated it was a special designation with no perks. Although we were promoted to Zenith, the program started one day after we set sail and only those sailing from the next day (November 25) onwards received Zenith benefits. It was a long Transatlantic... :')

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing.

I know, silly question but what is "Inaugural Elite"? We are Elite Plus and it doesn't mean anything to me but never had "Inaugural Elite"?

Pat

Wow, Dolphin- Kay and I had our 1st cruise early 90's on the "Seabreeze"

When we first started sailing with Celebrity they charged you a fee to be a Captain's Club Member then it became free for a while after that my card would read "Founding Member" does anyone remember this? Not sure when this stopped I think when they started printing Classic, Elite, etc. on the cards.

Really, is this some sort of status thing? I don't even save my sea pass cards and I genuinely don't care what color it is. In fact, I do use a leather lanyard, but I chose it because it isn't see through. People who choose to flaunt their good fortune are without grace and class imo, and it should never be assumed that how one chooses to travel is indicative of their personal circumstances.

I started to save all my old sea pass cards about 7 years ago. I reduce the itineraries that go with each card and tape them to the backs. This way I know where I went on each cruise as a reference for deciding on future itineraries! Works like a charm.

Good to have if there's a dispute later. Manypostershave discussed needing proof of a cruise for loyalty points.

I'm with you, I've never noticed that they are different colors nor have I even saved any of my cards. Someone's loyalty status and/or their cabin category is, IMHO, only their business.

Agreed .. Very tacky to flaunt sea pass cards. Sad that a person feels a need to show it off. Mine stays in a pocket out of site

I sail a variety of cabin types.. aqua being my favourite but most proud of myself if I can snag an inside for a dirt cheap price

This is a great idea, wish I had thought to do this. Just for the memories.

This is a great idea if you want to recall or scrapbook too. I've gotten to the point that I don't care very much about the itineraries anymore. I rarely get off the ship in port now. I simply enjoy being on the ship. Ideally there would be a ship that departs from Bayonne, NJ and goes out to sea for 10 -14 days and just comes back. No B2B, no ports, no repeats of activities and menus. Just two weeks at sea:) We have booked the Edge April 2019 out of FLL because I've never experienced a brand new ship before and the design is new. The only port I'm interested in though is Key West because I've never been there.

In terms of loyalty points, I suppose it is good for proof. Maybe I'm embarrassed to say that I will never reach zenith and I don't really care much about the loyalty program. I figure that if I can afford to cruise, I can afford a bag of laundry (or tp buy enough panties) for a two week cruise.

It must be the New Yorker in us 'cause I do the same thing. In fact I usually throw them away on my way off the ship! I use a lanyard too but only because if I didn't DH would staple it to my forehead.....I have a nasty habit of forgetting where I put things like room keys, safe codes, stuff like that. :D

I keep my old cards and put them in a picture frame in my office... when I'm feeling low I have a glance at it and it reminds me of better times

A friend of mine glues magnets to the back of her old cards and sticks them on her fridge door (she's one of those "fridge magnet people")... not my thing but it makes her happy so hey :D

I wish I had saved all of mine. My memory sucks and to be honest, I can't remember the names of the ships. We have had inside, OV and balcony cabins. Never had a suite and just don't feel like it's worth the extra money. I wear a lanyard because I got tired of going to Guest Relations and having to get another card issued, and sometimes finding the lost one when I get home and start sorting everything out. I haven't had to get a replacement card since I started using the lanyard, and I couldn't care less if someone thinks it makes me look like a nerd, newbie or tourist.

Throwing them away before you check your credit card statement may be a problem if you find an error. Your card has the folio number that you might need to help resolve a problem. Fortunately I had it when needed.

My lanyard is just big enough for the sea pass card. Also, right behind it is a zippered pocket. This way I can put my drivers license and some cash and/or credit card in it. That's all I need for going into port if I wish, or put my casino gambling money in for the evening. Never have to carry a bag or purse or have something dangling from wrist. I don't care what it looks like either! Now I never loose my card!

So because it's convenient for me to wear my card in a clear lanyard, I am flaunting and tacky??? Good to know that you take other people's inventory! SMH I don't see why everyone can't just do what they are comfortable with on a cruise (as long as it follows rules) and people STOP judging. WOW...just WOW.

Unfortunately, whenever the word "lanyard" is mentioned on these boards, people start attacking those who choose to wear one. I am one of those tacky people who wears one. It is so convenient and I know where the card is at all times. I even wear one when I am in an inside cabin! ;) (Now that's really flaunting it!) To each his/her own and why in the world would this even bother someone?

I was actually referring tp people who intently show it off .. not those who just wear a lanyard for convenience

Indeed! In full agreement.

I personally do not use not a lanyard, but I always have a zippered pocked in which my card resides (along with some cash, a credit card, my license and a photocopy of my passport when I go ashore). If someone finds them useful, whats the problem?

As for flaunting ones card colour as "status symbol", meh... doesn't impress me (or 99% of people I would guess). On the other hand I've had first time cruisers ask me why my card is a different colour a few times and I used the opportunity to give them a few friendly first timer tips (for example how to get to the heli pad on RCCL ships).

Really good statement! Some people are quick to judge others based on their own preferences. They just can't understand why others don't do what they do. It's almost like they feel that their way is the only way. This applies to so many topics on these boards.

I would happily book that cruise too! (Or from another port!)

My answer may not be what they are looking for but the most obvious and not recommended is to have a medical emergency. 😱

Not a place I want to be on or leaving the ship from. 🤗

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌞

How do you know the difference? I don't wear one either but I see a lot of people wearing them and I couldn't tell you what was inside them because I'm looking at their faces not studying the lanyards.
