Lisa8 Posted June 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2017 Whats your favorite deck on Oasis of the seas and why? Starside vs Portside? We usually book based on getting connecting rooms. But since this is the first time we're booking one year out we have more choices to play with instead of going with whatever rooms they have left in terms of connecting rooms 3-6 months out. There is no advantage of starboard vs port. I prefer not to book on Deck 7 aft, because the elevator lobby is blocked side to side by the Boardwalk sign. I avoid Deck 14 because it's too close to the noise of the pool deck. Other than that, all of the decks are fine, IMO. Lots of people like Deck 8 for its proximity to Central Park. I do, too, but don't really care too strongly. :)
lovelife Posted June 11, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2017 Favorite is 8, but others are fine except 14.

Poplin Posted June 11, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 11, 2017 Thanks for your input everyone. Can you actually hear the noise from the pool? I've cruised with a group of 20 or more friends every February on either the Oasis, Allure, and/or Harmony since 2010. Have also taken several family trips on these ships too. Most itineraries have three days at sea and we like to spend our sea days in the solarium. We (friends) always book deck 14 starboard/forward so we can walk one flight of stairs to the solarium. The ship usually docks on the starboard side too. When we cruise with family, the childrens' program is on deck 14 forward also. Makes it very convenient for drop off and pick up. Noise has never been a factor from the pool and definitely not the childrens' area as it is tucked away in between port and starboard sides. Everyone has a different reason for their preferences. Big_G Posted June 11, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 11, 2017 Deck 17. Once you've tried it, it's tough doing anything else.
matj2000 Posted June 11, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 11, 2017 Deck 14, Port side, as close to the elevators as possible. I spend my entire day from 8:30AM to 4PM at the pool deck. I make multiple runs to my room during the day so I like to be as close as possible. And I actually like the sounds coming from up there.... That's a actually a very good reason to go with deck 14 that I hadn't really thought about. We always go to Solarium for breakfast and spend most of our day at the pool. It would be nice to be a short walk away from both. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

On Princess we had cabins on the pool deck toward the front of the ship. That was very convenient.
lovelife Posted June 11, 2017 #10 Share Posted June 11, 2017 Thanks for your input everyone. Can you actually hear the noise from the pool? During my last cruise (under the solarium) I was awakened at 2 a.m. by the sliding of furniture from above. It continued for quite a while. Not sure why they decided to rearrange things at that time. :(
Lisa8 Posted June 11, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted June 11, 2017 seems like everyone has opposite views of deck 14 lol. Thanks for all the input
Rare mtsublueraider Posted June 11, 2017 #12 Share Posted June 11, 2017 Following along. I've booked connecting 14 deck cabins but they're mid-aft under, what I think to be, some Sort of cafe. Hoping the pool noise won't be so bad because we are farther away. Love to just pop up a deck to swim with our kids! Following along...

Lisa8 Posted June 12, 2017 Author #16 Share Posted June 12, 2017 If only we took fewer vacations we might be able to afford deck 17 ;) We just did a 12 day cruise in April, doing an all inclusive next month and Disney for xmas :o Trying to please everyone in the family ;p We are currently booked on deck 8 for our next cruise on Oasis, but giving deck 14 some serious thought. The general consensus seems to be you either love it a lot or hate it lol

NouCruzer Posted June 12, 2017 #18 Share Posted June 12, 2017 No contest. wide corridors...limited access...Quiet as a tomb. DECK 17. Can't argue with that and nice to have Coastal Kitchen close by, but you do have to pay a premium. We've also stayed on deck 8 and like the proximity to Central Park, two decks down to the Boardwalk and one more to the Promenade. It's a much longer hike to these areas from deck 17. Might be a consideration if mobility is an issue.

NouCruzer Posted June 12, 2017 #20 Share Posted June 12, 2017 I like the suites only sundeck. Agree. But you have access to this from any of the suites on the lower decks as well. Plus, it can get quite windy on sea days on the sun deck. But finding a lounger in a wind break and taking advantage of the bar service up there can significantly offset the problem... ;)

dpcmh Posted June 12, 2017 #23 Share Posted June 12, 2017 My only preference is not deck 14 and being closer to the forward elevators. Both times on an oasis class, forward elevators were less to nill congested at peak times vs aft elevators.
time4u2go Posted June 12, 2017 #24 Share Posted June 12, 2017 Deck 6 for sure. It's within 2 decks of the ice rink, the theater, the jazz club, the comedy club, the casino, the dining room, the promenade, the spa, the boardwalk, central park, and dazzles. I don't think any other deck has that many things within such an easy walk.
