Tables in traditional dining

I've never heard of this... why would they rotate table numbers?

I don't know why but they do. Have you ever noticed some of the waiters that escort you to your assigned table on the first evening are confused as to the table locations? 2014 we did a B2B cruise on the Summit. We had early TD and the same table for both legs. On the second leg our table number changed along with the wait staff. Like always on all of our B2B cruises the wait staff has always changed.

The numbers change on every cruise to accommodate changes in passengers and how they want to be seated. You might have a number of large families on a cruise, or you might have a few special partial charters that require different seating configurations.

They rotate the waiters to different parts of the dining room. This could explain some of the confusion.

They also change table configurations sometimes as stated. So having the numbers ahead of time does you no good. Also, requesting a specific location, calling ahead, etc.., does you no good. Being Elite+ does you no good. You have to wait until you are onboard, see where you are, and they try to lobby for a better table if you want one.

Yes. And the table configuration is finalized only a few days before the new cruise voyage.

If you have a bunch of people who what LARGE tables, they will lessen the number of 2 and 4 tops....if you have tons who want to sit alone, then there will be more smaller tables. It varies from cruise to cruise.

Interesting, in 2013 I got the floor plan with table numbers on the Summit. With that information I was able to choose tables and seating arrangement for a group of 41 on a 2014 cruise. Also able to choose tables for a 2016 group of 22.

I know on Royal Caribbean they do change the wait staff between segments. Reason is to even out how far the waitstaff have to walk to and from the kitchen. They do not consider it fair for some to always be near the kitchen entrance and others to always be far from it.

So I suspect Celebrity changes the wait staff for the same reason.

Or a different dining venue. All of our B2B cruises have been with RC and Celebrity. We like the idea of having a different wait staff for each leg.

I don't know why you should be able to choose your tables ahead of time.
