Hanaleisuzyg Posted August 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2017 Hi there. Quick question: Is the buffet on the Caribbean Princess self-serve, or does the crew do the serving as on Holland America? We're on the Sept. 10 British Isles voyage. Thanks!
Rare Shelly97060 Posted August 7, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2017 It is self serve.

easyboy Posted August 7, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 7, 2017 They are served at the buffet station only if there is a virus alert. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Hanaleisuzyg Posted August 7, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted August 7, 2017 Just a bit skittish about other people's hands, Keith. Looking forward to the cruise!
Rinderoo Posted August 7, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 7, 2017 Holland America serves you. I loved it.

Cruis-Ann Posted August 7, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 7, 2017 On recent cc cruise, hot food was served, the rest was self-serve
spyro1952 Posted August 7, 2017 #11 Share Posted August 7, 2017 On recent cc cruise, hot food was served, the rest was self-serve I would be more skittish of the food rather than people's hands - worst buffet in in the fleet IMO. And hot food on our April TA cruise was NOT served, everything there for the taking.
cb at sea Posted August 7, 2017 #12 Share Posted August 7, 2017 We steer clear of buffets almost everyplace! Not a fan!
JF - retired RRT Posted August 7, 2017 #13 Share Posted August 7, 2017 I was afraid of that. Thanks. If you're concerned about using your bare hands to touch the serving utensils that others (who may be passing on a "bug" they don't even know they have:eek:), bring a handful of disposable gloves and wear then while you're serving your food. After you get to your table, take them off. Clean hands.:D

casofilia Posted August 12, 2017 #16 Share Posted August 12, 2017 We hardly used the buffet on the Round Britain cruise but it was help yourself except that the staff would bring you drinks.
OCruisers Posted August 13, 2017 #17 Share Posted August 13, 2017 Yes, most things in the buffet are "self serve" ... except a few like the carving section, egg station, etc. Just adding ... At the International Cafe you are served your choices there.
2forseas Posted August 13, 2017 #18 Share Posted August 13, 2017 I have also seen people using a napkin on the serving utensils as they went thru the buffet. I think its also a good idea to use hand sanitizer both before the buffet line, and also at the table before you eat. Just sayin
rdsqrl Posted August 13, 2017 #19 Share Posted August 13, 2017 We steer clear of buffets almost everyplace! Not a fan! It's too bad you didn't let Princess know this; to think they wasted all that money on building buffets on all their ships. It's a shame.
floridalover5623 Posted August 13, 2017 #20 Share Posted August 13, 2017 Those buffet lines must really be dirty the way I hear some people talk about them. ;p

floridalover5623 Posted August 13, 2017 #22 Share Posted August 13, 2017 No more so than any other buffets elsewhere. ;) I honesty believe them to be cleaner due the supervision and to surprise inspections on turnaround day. :)

Coffeeluvr05 Posted August 13, 2017 #24 Share Posted August 13, 2017 Hi there. Quick question: Is the buffet on the Caribbean Princess self-serve, or does the crew do the serving as on Holland America? We're on the Sept. 10 British Isles voyage. Thanks! Yes, they are self serve. There are handwashing stations at the entrance to the buffet area but I didn't see many using them. We did not care for the buffet at all and avoided it the entire trip. We had plenty of good food elsewhere on the ship.
