Thinkpink71 Posted August 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2017 This will be our first cruise and we are going to visit Dunn River Falls. I know you should wear water shoes. Does anyone have a suggestion on good water shoes that would have good traction and not slip and slide?

TrqoisWtrs Posted August 8, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2017 I love my Keens! (And you don't need to pay this, there are generic versions out there.) http://www.keenfootwear.com/water/f/women/
lostchild Posted August 8, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2017 We got some $9.99 on sales ones from the Celebrity ship store. They worked fine on the waterfall climb. The tour bus taking us to the waterfall asked if anyone needs water shoes and they could stop by a shop for us to buy some.. I think they said the price was also around $10 a pair. These are pretty much the ones you see at Walmart's summer fun aisle selling for $6.99. And you will NEED the shoes if you are climbing up the fall. Don't go barefoot. Rare Essiesmom Posted August 8, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2017 You could also take worn out sneakers and trash them when done. EM
jennybenny Posted August 8, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2017 We used Tevas. Keens are similar, but they are both expensive. So you may not be willing to spend the money. Used Tennis work, but you will want them to have some traction on the bottom so you don't slip, and they will weigh down more than Tevas or Keens would. Nebr.cruiser Posted August 8, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2017 I used my Tevas--the kind with straps. I got along fine, but I do think an enclosed shoe might be better. It just needs good traction.
baileybrad Posted August 8, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 8, 2017 Hopefully, you are going on a non-cruise ship excursion that gets you there earlier than the large groups. It is so much fun to climb the falls when it is not crowded.
pseudoware Posted August 8, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 8, 2017 +1 for Keen. I've had mine since 2004, and it feels like I could get another 10 years out of them. Salomon also has good stuff, imo. http://www.salomon.com/us/product/techamphibian-3.html Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk
Capt_BJ Posted August 8, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 8, 2017 You could also take worn out sneakers and trash them when done. EM concur that's a good recommendation altho I use my dive boots ....
beachbum53 Posted August 8, 2017 #11 Share Posted August 8, 2017 Prior to our cruise that included a stop in Ocho Rios, I had purchased a pair of water sandals from Eddie Bauer similar to these http://www.eddiebauer.com/product/mens-eddie-bauer-break-point/91904011?showProducts=&color=100&sizetype=&size= for canoeing. They worked great for climbing the Dunn's River falls.
cb at sea Posted August 8, 2017 #12 Share Posted August 8, 2017 If you are climbing the falls, you definitely need shoes with lots of grip...and no "slip" inside the shoe! Flip flops will NOT cut it!
zqvol Posted August 9, 2017 #13 Share Posted August 9, 2017 Your options are unlimited. I wear low cut shoes that I wear under my dive fins. I think I paid about $20 for them. You can also get dozens of varieties of sandals and shoes made for the water.
ldubs Posted August 9, 2017 #14 Share Posted August 9, 2017 I just purchased a pair of Speedo Hybrid Watercross shoes. I use them on my boat and like them a lot. They ran me about $20. When we went to Dunn River Falls I purchased a pair of basic water shoes at one of the stores near the dock. I think I paid $9. I think you can also rent them at the falls but as I recall you won't save any money doing that. I'm not sure if they will even let you climb the falls without some kind of water shoes. Im sure I would have gone barefoot when I was young and fearless, but wouldn't go without them now.
Robinsoncruiseso Posted August 9, 2017 #15 Share Posted August 9, 2017 I have a pair from Lands End. They are basically shoes which drain. I them pre-cruise with socks as regular shoes. Walking, exercise, Zumba. I was able to eliminate a pair of tennis shoes with the multi-purpose water shoes.

Losnab Posted August 9, 2017 #17 Share Posted August 9, 2017 We purchased Speedo Water Shoes on Amazon.Com and have had them for several years. Keith We too purchased the speedo water shoes on line from dicks. After rinsing and drying completely a cruise friend shared storing them with a dryer sheer tucked into each shoe to keep them fresh. Has worked for several years. Sent from my iPad using Forums
