cb at sea Posted October 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 22, 2017 You will have a turkey or ham dinner....decorations on the MDR tables. There is an Easter bunny and an Easter Egg hunt....they do observe it...don't know what else you can do! If you're in port on Easter...expect NOTHING to be open.....just so you know! msmayor Posted October 22, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 22, 2017 We were on Serenade for Easter Sunday and they had a large display of Easter Eggs and chocolate in the Windjammer; you could help yourself throughout the day. There was an Easter Service in the show room in the morning which we attended. We went to the Main Dining Room for breakfast afterward and the menu was chocolate-themed for the holiday. At noon, the Easter Bunny was 'holding court' in the Atrium and you could visit and have photographs taken by the ship photographers. At dinner in the Main Dining Room a ham option was offered as was Turkey and trimmings. As a side note, our port on Good Friday was St. Maarten. Nearly all the businesses are closed on Good Friday; it is a major holiday and the government decrees that with few exceptions, businesses must close. They were permitted to open up a few shops right at the pier for the tourists, but it was not that much. We browsed a bit but ended up spending the day on the ship. Hmmm....must vary by ship as we were on one this year at Easter and I don't recall anything different. Candleonwater Posted October 23, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 23, 2017 We have done quite a few Easter sailings, and from our experience, it will depends on the ship and when you sail. If you actually depart on Easter, the activities will probably be limited. I remember an "Easter appropriate" dinner, and colored eggs decorating our table.... that was it for Easter departures. For sailings that departed on Saturday, we've seen Easter Egg hunts and the Easter bunny, as well as Easter religious services.
Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted October 23, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 23, 2017 We have been on 2 Easter cruises and there was really nothing special. There were a religious services for Easter and Passover. One thing we learned was to book a ship tour on Easter Sunday. Depending on where you are traveling [Caribbean?] almost everything is closed. Also. one time the traffic was so awful the bus to pick us up was more than an hour late. . . . Then we were late getting back. We seldom take ship's tours--but, this is one time to give it serious consideration. Many take off from work from Good Friday to Easter. The beaches are packed with families.
