Which ship would you choose?

My DH and I are looking to book our second cruise. Our first was earlier this year on the Vista and we loved it. Our choices this time are Miracle, Magic, Dream, or Glory. For those of you who have experienced these ships, which would you recommend?

You started off on one of Carnival's newest ships. That sets the bar pretty high. Here are the other ships you're considering by age of ship:

Carnival Miracle: 2004

Carnival Magic: 2011

Carnival Dream: 2009

Carnival Glory: 2003

If latest is most important, Magic would be first choice. What are your preferences besides ship's age?

We've looked up the age and size differences. We're more looking for people's experiences on them. We enjoyed the Vista for the amazing food and entertainment. Some reviews make it sound like some of the ships don't have as good of food. And since we have nothing to compare to, I'd like those who have been on these ships to tell us why they liked, or didn't like them when compared to other Carnival ships. Thank you!

Are you trying to choose a cruise based solely on the ship? What are the choices of itineraries with the ships listed? What time of the year are considering? Food is subjective. What one considers great, another may consider it not so great. Take any reviews you read with a grain of salt. Along with the itinerary, look at the on board amenities on each of the ships you're considering. Which are most important to you, and which are least important? There's so much more to choosing a cruise than just the ship.

Dream or Magic. While I've sailed on Conquest class ships about a dozen or more times, I'm starting to get tired of them (just like I tired of Fantasy class ships about 10 or 12 years ago) and prefer the newer ships. I was on the Dream a few weeks ago and it handled great in the waves stirred up in the Gulf. Had a fantastic crew as well, very pleasant to deal with any of them.

We sailed Vista once, Miracle twice, Dream once, Magic once, and Glory twice, so far.

My first choice will always be Miracle. I love her size. She has three pools even though she has fewer passengers than the other ships, which only have two pools. Miracle was less crowded. Her layout was the better of the five ships. Serenity is the entire aft deck and has a pool. We never had to exit the Punchliner after every show because it's the biggest of the five ships. She has Tandoor!!!

We sailed Vista 13 day Transatlantic. I felt like we were always in lines. There were too many people everywhere. She is actually my least favorite ship of 17 different ships we've sailed. Dream and Magic are not much smaller. Glory would be my second choice.

Good luck deciding.

I agree and we've already chosen our itinerary and they are the four ships that have them and it is all the same time of year. So our last decision is which ship.

We were actually going to miss the Blue Iguana on the Miracle, but I didn't know about Tandoor, so I looked it up. It looked awesome, but according to Carnival's website, Tandoor is only on Dream and Magic (of the four ships I'm asking about), not Miracle.

I'm an oddball who prefers the Conquest ships over the Dream class.

That might all change after we sail the Vista next September.:D

Don't get me wrong though, We've enjoyed every Carnival cruise we've sailed. (it's Carnival!) I just like the layout of the Conquest ships (especially the Promenade.)

Hello! After getting off the miracle earlier in the year, food options were quite lacking when compared to the Glory which had many 2.0 features. We enjoyed the Glory 2x, not too big or small. If you liked the Vista my bet is you'll like the Dream as well. I am partial to conquest ships or spirit class. Have fun!

Don't forget the embarkation port. In 2015 we sailed out of NYC. In 2018 we are sailing out of Boston to do an New England/Canada cruise on another Cruise line. Why? Don't want to do NYC again. Next week we are on the Dream partially because we wanted to see a little of New Orleans. Could have chosen to cruise Marti Gras week but we wanted to avoid the crowds and added expenses. We live on the West Coast so most cruises require a plane ride. You may be able to easily drive to some of the Caribbean ports. You may make the same or opposite choices but do consider where you will be starting your cruise.

Dream and Magic are closest to Vista and since you liked Vista so much, I’d go with one of those two.

We’ve done both, in coves, but they were about 4 years apart and the Dream was an 8 day New Years Cruise which we enjoyed slightly more than Magic, but we don’t think the small differences in the ships had much to do with it.

So for us it would come down to cruise price, ease/cost of getting to the departure port, and maybe cabin selection if the other two were equal.

Sounds like you’re flying: logistically, NOLa/Dream might be slightly easier then PC/Magic - but not so much so that if you’d prefer Disney or a Beach vs the more adult party/ casino experience you’d get in NOLa that it should affect your decision.

If you’re driving, I’m guessing you might be in Florida based on the other cruises you’ve chosen. No way I’d drive extra for Dream Vs Magic unless the price was a lot better on the Dream.

I think you’ll find the MDR menus the same on all ships, the Dream and Magic have more alternative venues than the other two. I think you’ll like the show rooms and comedy clubs on these ships better than the Vista.

So cost out travel expenses to/from the ship, add that to the cruise cost for each and choose the one that’s cheaper.

Of those you've listed, the Dream is my favorite. (We have not sailed on the Miracle tho.)

I have heard that people like the layout of the Miracle as it is pretty different from the other ships.

I like the Dream because we love the Cloud 9 facilities and this particular ship has a Razul (sp?) mud room that can be booked privately. We have done this twice and it was a great experience. I was very disappointed when we got on the Breeze and found out they did not have the same facility. I thought all Cloud 9 ships had one...

Just off the Dream last month and I would hop back on here again in a heartbeat! Beautiful ship and a great crew. We would really have to nitpick to come up with criticisms. And I really enjoyed sail away down the Mississippi. And I may have overlooked when you are booking but if Chris Williams is your cruise director that makes the choice even easier. He is an entertainer through and through.

Boy, how did I make that mistake??? So sorry. Wishful thinking, perhaps?

Tandoor is on Dream, Magic, Breeze, and Splendor.

Miracle has Chopsticks, which is different than Mongolian Wok.

The title of the thread is “which would you choose” and in the 2nd sentence of the post you say you loved your Vista cruise.

It’s really not about what anybody else would choose but you. If you loved the Vista, the closest two ships on your list are Dream and Magic. There’s really not that much difference between those two to justify additional cost or logistical headaches.

I haven't been on the others but the Glory was our least favorite Carnival cruise ship and cruise experience.
