Rare kazu Posted January 7, 2018 #26 Share Posted January 7, 2018 How do you get the offer and is it a specific percentage they offer across the board? Do they email you? HAL calls you? How much time do you have to make up your mind? Am so surprised this was offered after your first cruise -- good for you! If you log into the HAL website before you look at a booking once you get past the 2 passengers, etc., you will quickly see if you have a discount or not. We had a letter in our mailbox on embarkation night. I've had them before and tossed them. this time I sent the email. No give away cruise but I do get some casino cash. I don't typically get the dirt cheap offers as we are not in the right state (heck we are in a province ;) ), but I have received them on the odd occasion and they are good deals it you want to do the Caribbean with limited dates. Hope this helps a bit.
Sea42 Posted January 7, 2018 #27 Share Posted January 7, 2018 I received a casino discount for our upcoming cruise. It was only 15% but I was surprised. We haven't cruised in 5 years. The only time I was in the casino was to have a cigarette. I would sit at a slot machine and play while I smoked. Over a 20 day cruise I guess the time adds up. As I no longer smoke, I doubt I would visit the casino again (even if it was still allowed).

I'm not really interested in any Caribbean itineraries (unless it also includes some type of repositioning), so going out of my way at the casino to try and get a discount would be a waste of time and money for me. How much time do you have to make up your mind? Am so surprised this was offered after your first cruise -- good for you! It was via an email specifically to me and it was a very low rate. In 4 days, there weren't any interior rooms left but there were still rooms available in other categories at increasing amounts. Got a blocked view window room for just a little more. I don't think there was an expiration other than while rooms available on specific cruises.
niceguyneastbay Posted January 7, 2018 #30 Share Posted January 7, 2018 It has now been 15 days since I disembarked and my mariner status has not yet updated. Have any of you recently noticed a delay in your credits being posted? Thanks in advance. I have done short segments from YVR-SFO while the rest of the itinerary goes to FLL via Panama Canal. My account doesn't update till after the cruise arrives in FLL 19 days later.

cabana-lover Posted January 8, 2018 #33 Share Posted January 8, 2018 We returned on December 8 from our 7 day Westerdam cruise and are still waiting for our Mariner status update. We have contacted them twice via email but as of January 7- still not updated. Obviously we are not alone
giraffegirl Posted January 11, 2018 #34 Share Posted January 11, 2018 My Mariner status still hasn't been updated from my Dec. 1-8 cruise on the Westerdam. I also contacted HAL and was told it would be posted within 5 business days, but it hasn't. I'm just going to check back periodically to see when it gets posted. I don't sail again until June and I'm 5 Star, so it doesn't make any difference currently. My responder said it was some kind of computer glitch that needed to be straightened out. Rare Crazy For Cats Posted January 12, 2018 #36 Share Posted January 12, 2018 We just sailed on the Amsterdam and disembarked on 1/4. Mariner status has not yet been updated. It is usually done in under a week. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare Lady Arwen Posted January 12, 2018 #37 Share Posted January 12, 2018 On our recent cruise we became 3 star Mariners after the first week. On the second to last evening of our 14 night cruise, we received our new pin and a little card informing us of our updated status. Our online account did not reflect this for about 10 days after the cruise.
Georgie562 Posted January 12, 2018 #38 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Just off my first HAL in December on the Maasdam 22 Days. It took about two weeks to get my mariner status updated. I visited the casino everyday, racked up a little over 2,000 points. I now see that I have great deals on some cruises. In fact, I booked Maasdam again for October 28. Price was too good to pass up. On my booking confirmation it says casino discount. I had intended to sail NCL Bliss but I switched over to the Maasdam unique itinerary.

cabana-lover Posted January 12, 2018 #40 Share Posted January 12, 2018 We have been inquiring about the mariner status since Dec,08 with no results. Sent an email to headquarters and they replied stating that they were having issues. Well, it's been over a month with nothing imminent. I wonder what their tech support is getting paid??? Rare Crazy For Cats Posted January 19, 2018 #41 Share Posted January 19, 2018 Yesterday marked two weeks since we got off the Amsterdam and no points. I reached out to the Mariner Society and received an email letting me know there was a technical glitch. Points were added today. HELENPSL Posted January 20, 2018 #44 Share Posted January 20, 2018 I had the same problem getting everything posted for our cruise that ended on Dec. 27. I called the Mariner Society after a week and she told me they needed a few more days. At the end of week two I called again and she told me there was a "glitch" in their system and she would fix it. By the next morning everything was posted. And why, you ask, was I so anxious. This was the cruise that made us 4 star mariners!! YEAH - free laundry!! arzz Posted January 20, 2018 #45 Share Posted January 20, 2018 We, too, returned home on January 3 and still have no mariner points. Went on line at HAL this evening and filled out the email form. I got a return receipt that they have my email but no response yet. Must be web site or other issues with HAL.
