nickiefriend Posted November 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2017 When you get on the ship, what is the first thing that you do? We usually go to the LIDO and eat but I am beginning to wonder if we are missing something else more fun or relaxing to do?
Athankfulheart Posted November 13, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Not of fan of being where everyone else is, so we usually unpack, iron a few items and then go eat when the rush subsides. We also choose the less busy lunch venues. Then we scope out the ship and head to muster. If there is time we will rest a bit. grandmarnnurse Posted November 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Hit the buffet for lunch, followed by our first cocktail out at the pool bar! Then tour the ship until cabin ready. Sent from my iPad using Forums
BNBR Posted November 13, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Depends on the ship. Last cruise we were on so early, buffets weren't even open yet. We grabbed a drink by the pool, found another bar and hung out. But generally, I like to go grab food somewhere - where that is depends on the ship. Moviela Posted November 13, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 13, 2017 I go to the deli and get two Salmon Bagels. (Hold the bagel, just the fish and smear) then go to the coffee bar and get a Strawberry Shake, then to Guys for a Ringer. Squeeze some lemon on the Salmon, smear goes on the Ringer then it's a bite of fish, a bite of burger, a sip of shake. Repeat until done. A cold-cold Mountain Dew chaser makes a perfect lunch. Micahs Grandad Posted November 13, 2017 #9 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Go to cabin, drop off carryon stuff and head up to lido for lunch.
wo5m Posted November 13, 2017 #10 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Depends on the cruise. I think the first day is a great day to hit the hot tubs or on ships have the Italian restaurant I'll take advantage of the free lunch before everyone else finds out about later in the week. If I have FFT I'll go to the cabin and change before I hit the hot tub, otherwise. I'll have on a bathing suit when I get on board and just carry on plastic sack with a quick change afterwords and by then the room is usually ready. Everything else is checked with my luggage. simmingdenise Posted November 13, 2017 #12 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Atrium bar for a pina colada! After that we head to a bar inside (either promenade or casino) and get a shot of jäger. Only then do we head to the room! Traditions!!

Underway53 Posted November 13, 2017 #14 Share Posted November 13, 2017 I’ve only been on one cruise. For now. We hit the Lido for lunch with our kids. Then we dropped our carryon off in the room and explored the boat. Then muster and then sail away.

bury me at sea Posted November 13, 2017 #17 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Go straight to our cabin, unpack. Wander, watch supplies being loaded on the ship, and people watch until muster.
navybaby1113 Posted November 13, 2017 #18 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Go straight to our cabin (we always get FTTF) to set our stuff down and then go eat.

Souljourner Posted November 13, 2017 #21 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Always go directly to the main dining room. Love the relaxed ambiance, white tablecloths, and that first very dirty martini. There's something about having that drink with lunch, (something I don't usually do) while lingering over a beautiful meal, that feels like vacation. 7leagueboots Posted November 13, 2017 #22 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Unpack. Eat. And if it is a new ship, we take a tour and see where everything is. If not a new ship, we make a drink and enjoy the balcony.
Drazil65 Posted November 13, 2017 #23 Share Posted November 13, 2017 (edited) We are early boarders (love to make the most of that first day we are paying for ;p) and go straight to check out our cabin (balcony or OS) FTTF, meet our cabin steward and put our carry on items away, change if necessary then head out to grab lunch...after lunch make sure our seating is for 3 of us if early dinning or just explore and make sure we know where the giant chess board is (DS )...then we usually end up from there going to muster after some people watching (especially the first timers and their expressions) then to our balcony for sail away....of course we typically grab our DOD on way to or right after lunch...we will def hit the Tandoor grill on the Magic in December (and again in late March) as that is our go for lunch when we cruise Magic...(sad to see her go next year :( ) Edited November 13, 2017 by Drazil65
FSHLOT Posted November 13, 2017 #24 Share Posted November 13, 2017 I usually cruise with my 3 older brothers along with our better halves, and we just try and settle in and meet up on some deck and start ordering buckets of beer. First night is usually an early night between all the usual first day process.
sunshinecruiser62 Posted November 13, 2017 #25 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Always go to our cabin and unload all our stuff (FTTF), off to Guys for a killer burger and a salad (from the salad bar). Then people watch and explore till muster......I'm thinking we'll implement the traditional Jager shot next cruise!! lol
