Madden05 Posted December 7, 2017 #26 Share Posted December 7, 2017 I hope it's not too noisy for us on the hump. I had heard they close the doors and it's quiet. I better bring earplugs! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Forums mobile app

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Forums mobile app My last Serenade cabin was direct center hump. Actually did not hear much at all being in the middle of that separating wall on the starboard side. It was the cabins near the openings both aft and forward of that cabin that you really noticed it. My change came as I was only three from the door on the port side, could have been fine...but since I had the opportunity to change...I did it. ZERO noise issues on my sailing, even during main shows like 70's party. In my humble opinion absolutely the best balcony location on the ship. No smoke smell whatsoever, even in Europe with many smokers, from the casino Note specifically.... if your hump cabin is directly at the opening to the centrum (cabin 8588 especially) yes much noise. As you get to the center point behind the wall (ie cabins 8596, 8598, 8600) you do not hear much. Inside the cabin zero. I hated the location of my forward balcony. One of the main joys of sailing Radiance Class is the Centrum. Why use the forward elevators that go no where I wish to be (CL,DL, dining options, deck 6 access to Schooner/Lounge/specialty, access to gangway, etc) rather than being in the Centrum everyday heading up/down to the cabin and enjoying the superb outdoor view from those elevators? I also hated having to walk through either the Casino or photo studio+shops just to get to the Centrum for dinner/shows/events/meeting friends. Centrum location and aft are much better location for cabins on Radiance Class imo.

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Forums mobile app 98 is almost dead center and will be quiet. I was in 96, my cruise buddies were in 98 and had zero issues with noise also. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=54100663&highlight=Close+to+finishing#post54100663

Hoopster95 Posted December 7, 2017 #33 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Oh good. Thanks! We should be good then. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Forums mobile app Re noise, here's the view of Centrum, from deck 8 .... imagine all the noise below you during a huge party (ie. 70's night) as you look down onto the Centrum. From the Centrum looking into the hallway, do you see that cabin door that is directly exposed? that's 8588. The worst cabin for noise by far. As you turn right to go to the hump cabins 8598 3-4 cabins away from that opening. In the hallway you'll hear the muffled party going on, inside the cabin no problems for me. reallyitsmema Posted December 7, 2017 #35 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Opinions vary dramatically on Radiance class hump cabins. We sailed in 7600 on Brilliance and we heard music every night until around midnight. At times, the music made it hard to hear what we had playing on the tv, which is typically the music that is on the ship position channel. Brilliance never closed the fire doors on our sailing, though others say they do get closed now. You really need to decide for yourself what you can tolerate. We had a port intensive cruise and would have preferred to be able to get to sleep a little earlier than we did.
cinesage Posted December 7, 2017 #36 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Convenient location, nice views from the balcony. Too close to the centrum for me. As long as you're offering your valued opinion, how will JS 1570 be on Jewel (or the same class)?

dani negreanu Posted December 7, 2017 #39 Share Posted December 7, 2017 We had 8594 mid hump on Jewel last March. No noise from the Centrum, excellent location and views. One thing though -- the balcony (half) divider between us and #8592 didn't afford complete privacy.

mslaabs Posted December 8, 2017 #41 Share Posted December 8, 2017 Cabin 8590 is on the hump but it has a very small triangular balcony about 2/3 the size of a regular balcony as show in the shot below of the balcony for 8600 which has the same size balcony. There has been complaints here on CC about the size of these hump balconies. Any chance you have photos of deck 9 hump balconies? We'll be in 9582 on Serenade in October.

Rare island lady Posted December 8, 2017 #43 Share Posted December 8, 2017 I'd be OK with that, you are pretty far from the opening to the centrum. Bob, I did take your advice and move forward from 1050. When I told Bucky that was your suggestion...he was all for it. :D Am now in 1534.
Rare BillOh Posted December 8, 2017 #44 Share Posted December 8, 2017 I would stay with what you have. Definitely would not go with 8590, too much centrum noise and wouldn't want a smaller balcony. I guess my 75% hearing loss helps. My wife mentioned the noise, but I slept great.

Oh, I forgot to mention how they pressure wash the area of the Solarium directly above you every night from about 2am to 6am. Don't worry, just constant moving chairs and tables, with the additional pounding of the water on the ceiling. Juts kidding.

We are usually awake until at least midnight anyways so we aren't too worried about it! We sleep sooo good on cruises. If it's bad though, I'll come back and report for future cruises! Yeah, I kind of expected that!! ;p;p:D What about the pounding of feet on the jogging track and the ship's horn bellowing right above us as we pass through the fog in the night?? :')
OntarioTraveller Posted December 8, 2017 #48 Share Posted December 8, 2017 Another question: As a couple, If you have a choice of cabins do you avoid being next door to those that have an occupancy of 4 (assuming there will be kids...)? I know being in a connecting cabin isn’t looked upon as a wise move.
