My aft haven for 4 booked a year in advance cost the same as two balconies on both celebrity and royal Caribbean. We have the best of both worlds. Drink package, dining package, box, internet, Quiet area,Haven restaurant , no lines and preferential seating for me. The teens can still mingle with the masses. Btw the cabin went up in price by4k since I booked

It's funny you say this. I'm one who would have a hard time now cruising without the Haven. But the price has gone up dramatically on some ships and when I went to go book our February vacation cruise, which historically is one of the most expensive weeks believe it or not, the prices on some ships were ridiculous.

But the price for the Epic Haven was still reasonable! And the Epic has the BEST Haven of any ship! I wouldn't pay that price to cruise Haven on the Escape or Breakaway again. But the Epic was $6 k for the very expensive February school vacation week! it was reasonable. Now the Epic goes to the worst, dog ports, really the worst ports you have to get over that. But after many Caribbean cruises, one port sort of looks like all the rest. You have to find things you can do.

I don't see elevators on the deck plans for the Escape higher than deck 17

Here's a video of the Escape Haven elevator to illustrate what Two Wheels Only posted:

Would not consider the Haven on NCL or any other mass market ship.

I simply patronize Oceania, the entire ship is in fact a haven. From the amazing service, to the outstanding food in every venue to the quiet environment. No need to hid from anyone and anything on Oceania. It is a class operation all the way. The guests are very consistent in their travel experience, dress, social demeanor and their focus on good food and wine.

In fact the premium lines can be less expensive than suites and havens on the mass lines.

It appears to me that customers on mass lines are reacting to the overhyping/making people feel more important than others strategy deployed by the mass cruise lines. Customers are spending significant $ on suites/havens to hide from the lesser standards/people elsewhere on the ship.

If you want a suite/haven experience, simply patronize Oceania. Azamara, Viking.

Some of us prefer to stay away from people with consistent dress and social demeanor.

To me Oceania and the like are too snooty for me. When I am on a Vacation I don't want to dress up and have to wear a jacket and tie to dinner. I am the type that is well off but you would not know it. I treat everyone as an equal and melt in to society as a whole. That's why I love the Haven. I can be a normal every day person yet walk into a special area when I just want to get away

I love the NCL Haven/suite experience and my future cruises are all booked in either suites or the Haven. I prefer it not because I want to "get away" from anyone, but I appreciate the higher level of service those categories provide. That said, I have to say that I do get a fare discount through the casino - it's still NOT cheap, but it's not full fare (travelling solo, full fare Haven is crazy expensive!) For me, full fare Haven on an average 7-day cruise would run $7K-$10K and I wouldn't do it at that price.

As most people have said, if it is "worth it" depends upon what you are looking for from your vacation. I have a high-stress, non-stop crazy job, so vacation for me is hitting the PAUSE button and doing practically nothing except laying in the sun, reading, eating great food and hitting the casino and maybe a show at night. I've been to every Caribbean island more times than I can count, so I rarely even get off the ship anymore (unless I'm in Bermuda.) So, the quiet pampering of the Haven/suites are a perfect vacation for me. But that doesn't mean it's for everyone.

But what if you want suite experience PLUS water-slides, go-karts, zip-lines, splash area, etc....?

That's the beauty of the Haven/MSC Yacht Club. They have fun ship areas and a quieter, secluded area. It has nothing to do with feeling "better" than anyone else (in my case) but there probably are some who feel that they are above the "Jack Dawson" crowd.

That nice

Thank you both for showing me that

Still does not help the extra small balconies in the handicapped Haven rooms

but it is nice to see they added that, and to help people with walking difficulties utilize what they paid for

Naval architects of yore are turning over in their graves. Want Vegas or amusement parks? Don't need a ship for that.

Since they're dead....they aren't the target market. Maybe HAL? ;p

Don't "need" a lot of things. Don't need alcohol, gambling, shows, mini golf, butler, room service, .....or even a cruise.

It's about "want". If people want those things and are willing to pay for them (Bliss is selling very well), NCL is smart to provide them. If the Oceania or Regent Seven Seas crowd doesn't want those things (they don't), NCL is smart to not have them on those ships.

I believe the Haven has an elevator that goes up to decks 18 and 19. Go to you tube, search Norwegian Escape Haven, a gentleman named Robbie O'Malley gives a great tour

does not look like a lot of room in room 17226 on the Escape

I was going by the extra width of the HC balcony. My thinking was that the furniture could be moved to one side of the balcony leaving room for the wheelchair on the other side. I haven't personally seen it done but that was my guess based on my experience on a side balcony that was wider (not deeper) than standard.

I defer to anyone who has 1st hand experience. I have no idea as to what dimensions are required. :lips-sealed:

Hello all

This has been a most interesting thread.

Can I just say that "Haven" is not a generic term.

The Haven is not the same on all ships. That must lead to some confusion and disappointments.

I have been 3 times on Epic's Haven. It cannot be compared to the Jade Haven.

To give the impression on advertising material that the "Haven" experience is the same on all ships is very misleading of NCL. It is deceptive.

An upgrade to the "Haven" means different things on different ships.

Buyer Beware.

Good sailing to all.

I do have first-hand experience and while it's true that MOST accessible balconies are wider (not necessarily deeper) since accessible cabins are bigger/wider, this is not true on the accessible Haven H5s. Although the cabin is wider, the balcony does not run the width of the cabin - the balcony is pretty small and there are large ceiling to floor glass windows the run the rest of the width of the cabin. I've never tried to have a lounge chair put out there, because it looks pretty tight. (While the lounge chair myself might fit, with my disability I wouldn't be able to maneuver around the chair to get in/out of it.) So, I think you could probably navigate a wheelchair straight out - and then have to back into the room (vs. having the floor space to turn around.)

I don't feel that NCL say that the Haven experience is the same on all ship. The brochure I can get in Sweden clearly, I think, explain the differences between the different ship-classes.

I agree that some people might be disappointed but then they haven't done enought research.

That is clearly your "feeling".

The current offer to bid for an upgrade has a number of photographs of each Haven cabin. The last photograph is in fact a video. It is called the "Haven Experience". The clear impression given is that what is shown in the video relates to every Haven.

My "feeling is that it is deceptive.

Have you seen the video sven???

Good to hear from you.
