Cafedumonde Posted January 3, 2018 #28 Share Posted January 3, 2018 Thanks for the review! You had DH and I cracking up in your dining descriptions. Reminded us of Fawlty Towers.
relaxatsea Posted January 3, 2018 #29 Share Posted January 3, 2018 Thanks so much for your excellent review! On Boatding Day did you notice if they had somewhere to store your carry on luggage while you went to lunch? We experienced this on our Divina cruise on Nov. 25 and it was a big help. lovemycrazy cats Posted January 3, 2018 #30 Share Posted January 3, 2018 Very informative review. I have only once been on an inaugural cruise, Enchantment of the Seas, many years ago. I suppose I didn't realize how that affects dining room service at the time. Looking back, the service was a bit chaotic and slower than usual. I'm hoping the kinks will be worked out by the time I sail on the Seaside next December. I really loved the Divina's entertainment and I am actually glad they kept some of the Italian Opera flavor on this ship too. There are some Americans who actually enjoy that type of entertainment, believe it or not. Rare Keith1010 Posted January 3, 2018 #31 Share Posted January 3, 2018 Great review and happy you enjoyed the cruise. You are right. A lot of it is how you make a cruise go for you. Happy New Year. Keith
gizmoe Posted January 3, 2018 #32 Share Posted January 3, 2018 Great information in your comprehensive review. I hope that MSC corporate and Seaside officers correct the problems that were indicated. We're on Seaside in May, and I'm 50/50 on staying with MSC or doing NCL.
slei15 Posted January 3, 2018 Author #33 Share Posted January 3, 2018 Thanks so much for your excellent review! On Boatding Day did you notice if they had somewhere to store your carry on luggage while you went to lunch? We experienced this on our Divina cruise on Nov. 25 and it was a big help. They did have a hand luggage drop off area. It was a table on deck 6 where you board. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare DCGuy64 Posted January 3, 2018 #34 Share Posted January 3, 2018 Thank you for such an informative and thorough review. I found it very helpful. It does tend to cement my view that going on a brand new ship is something of a gamble. As a linguist and a professional singer, I am actually looking forward to hearing opera and speaking languages other than English. As the OP points out, a lot depends on your expectations. Clearly the shortcomings weren’t too bad since they’ve booked two more sailings on the same ship. Thanks again for the review, it was excellent! Kizzabel Posted January 6, 2018 #38 Share Posted January 6, 2018 Thanks so much for your review. We are in an Aurea whirlpool balcony on a western itinerary in Nov. I've learned lots from this review. Thanks again Sent from my SM-A520F using Forums mobile app
Yzerof Posted January 6, 2018 #39 Share Posted January 6, 2018 Thanks for writing such a detailed review. Hopefully some of the service problems will be improved over time. One question, did you try the F1 simulator or bowling? Or notice prices on them or if they had long lines?

One question, did you try the F1 simulator or bowling? Or notice prices on them or if they had long lines? We did not use them. It was quite expensive and they did not offer the full cruise unlimited package. Not sure the exact prices. Lines were never long for them. harola Posted January 8, 2018 #41 Share Posted January 8, 2018 Hi, thank you for your extended review! Is it true that smoking is permitted in all exterior places like balconies and decks?
slei15 Posted January 8, 2018 Author #42 Share Posted January 8, 2018 Hi, thank you for your extended review! Is it true that smoking is permitted in all exterior places like balconies and decks? Not at all. There is one side of the deck 7 pool area allowing it, and one part of a deck above the other pool. No balconies. suzyed Posted January 9, 2018 #43 Share Posted January 9, 2018 Ports:In all of our cruises, we had never made it to Antigua. It is a beautiful island. We took a transfer from MSC to Dickenson’s Bay beach, which was $15.90 per person. They took us at 9:45 AM and returned us at 1:30 PM. The beach was right next to Sandals Resort, and it was perfect. They charge $22 for 2 chairs and an umbrella (we did not use this, as we were in the water and building sand castles the whole time). There is a snack stand which is crazy overpriced for food. Back near the port, there is an old casino which we had a great time in. $5 tables, free drinks, and fun atmosphere. St. Thomas was as usual. We docked at Havensight. No excursions for us here. Nassau was Nassau. Got off the ship, went to Dunkin Donuts for a much needed iced coffee, walked a few rows of the straw market, and headed back onboard to enjoy the empty pool and slides. We very much prefer western itineraries personally, but this cruise was about the ship and the family time, not the ports! Are all the venues open all day on Port Days? I'm particularly interested in the Thermal Spa and whether we can use it while in port. Thanks!
