nolimits Posted January 16, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2018 Just asked similar Question on Roll Call I've Narrowed it down to Maya Chan (all inclusive) or Tropicanti alacart, Both need prior Reservations. Our sailing is full so they may also be. nolimits Posted January 16, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2018 3 Ships,Nav.,Empress and Freedom, just looked it up.I reserved Tropicanti they had only shade table and chairs no loungers left. We only drink beer and food is relatively cheap there so all inclusive or 4 of us was excessive .
mrpayroll Posted January 16, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 16, 2018 Tropicante is very nice. Pay as you go for drinks and food. They will reserve a spot for you ahead of time ( no charge )...
fleihr Posted January 16, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2018 Maya Chan may be booked up, I know it is for our Navigator sailing on February 20 so I'm glad I was able to get my spot early
jamesr3939 Posted January 16, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 16, 2018 Without a doubt do Maya Chan. Check the other major trip advisor(y) sites for reviews. We had a great time with the 5 & 3 year old granddaughters. Best buy on the entire cruise. However, at this late date I am betting they are booked up. tinkertwo Posted January 16, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 16, 2018 I agree with Tropicante and I will tell you, if you want a massage, they have outdoor massages and they are very inexpensive. I think I paid $30 for an hour. You just need to tell your waiter and they will arrange it for you.
matj2000 Posted January 17, 2018 #11 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Maya chang is over-rated. You can find great places in town. Don't pre-pay for anything..

Roadsofa Posted January 17, 2018 #14 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Another vote in support of Tropicante. Steve has a great setup and the food and service are awesome. I was there last year and fell asleep while having one of those beach side massages. I have been there twice and the cext cruise that I am on that stops in Costa Maya will have me parked on one of Steve's loungers enjoying the surroundings. Colorado Babe Posted January 17, 2018 #15 Share Posted January 17, 2018 The last time we went to Maya Chan the drinks were watered down. However, the food was still delicious. Massages were not good. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
LuCruise Posted January 17, 2018 #16 Share Posted January 17, 2018 What makes Maya Chan so popular? From what I hear, the water has seaweed and not as pretty as other spots. Is it the all you can drink that makes it popular (which personally I wouldn't want when being near water)?

Bkchero Posted January 17, 2018 #18 Share Posted January 17, 2018 I went to Tropicante a couple of weeks ago and loved it. I have not been to Maya Chan but it usually gets good reviews. When we got to Tropicante they had reserved us loungers and a table in the shade but when we said we wanted 4 loungers in the sun they made it happen. Food was great and for 8 of us the total was $175 before tip. That number included a T shirt for my 10 year old son who only had a wet swim shirt b/c we forgot to pack a dry one. They also found my wife a new pair of flip flops for $10 when hers ripped and we didn't feel like haggling. Clarea suggested looking at the Costa Maya Port of Call Forum. I second that suggestion. I found lots of useful info by reading the threads. When you go there you will see that there are other places that also get high marks. You might find something else that fits your party better. Enjoy your trip.

cruise wizard Posted January 17, 2018 #21 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Very peaceful, excellent service, tasty food, friendly people. I agree and add that some of the spots have loungers and hammocks right at your "reserved spot". Repeat customers also receive a small discount!!!! We love the place and having transportation to and from the club is a big plus. Their homemade chips, avocado dip and salsa was so tasty and replenished regularly............and the buffet was fresh cooked. The only downside is that bumpy road................hopefully it will be repaired as there were mounds of sand near the potholes or should I say the craters!!!!!! CruiseZog Posted January 17, 2018 #22 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Totally agree with the Maya Chan comments... very peaceful and relaxed, plus great service! Haven't been to the other one, but it sounds great, too.

Service is excellent (drink deliveries by kayak is pretty awesome), small number of guests, food is very good. The sea grass doesn’t bother me. mac_tlc Sent from my iPhone using Forums
