baronessk Posted January 24, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2018 I heard he is planning on retiring this May. If true, he will be missed but I'm sure it's a well deserved retirement.

seattleslew Posted January 24, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 24, 2018 The Ruby seems to be his ship. His wife is often onboard as well.
releck97 Posted January 24, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 24, 2018 The Commodore is inching up on his retirement. Yes, his wife will travel with him as well as family and friends quite frequently. We have had the pleasure of being in that party on a couple of occasions! My sister and Romano's wife are BFF's. He will be missed on the Ruby. I'm sure he's looking forward to fishing and relaxing! Grego Posted January 24, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 24, 2018 I heard he is planning on retiring this May. If true, he will be missed but I'm sure it's a well deserved retirement. This was confirmed while we were on the Pacific Princess a couple of weeks ago. We were fortunate to meet him and spend some time with both him and his wife while on a TA last year. Great guy and loved by all those that have sailed with him. Truly a resource that will be missed, but he leaves behind a great work ethic and knowledge that has been passed on to his staff. anthonyy7 Posted January 24, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 24, 2018 We sailed with him in 2016 on the Regal and hope to have him again this April on the Ruby before he retires. What a great guy and always visible around the ship. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Trish Ahoy Posted January 24, 2018 #11 Share Posted January 24, 2018 The Commodore left the Ruby last Thursday when we were in Cabo San Lucas. He was going to Australia to be on the Sea Princess, with his final cruise that will sail from Australia to Southhampton. Then a life of retirement. He joked that he will continue to cruise but he will start out with a blue card. He is so personable and will be missed.

sewgood Posted January 24, 2018 #13 Share Posted January 24, 2018 Does anyone know when is last departure date will be? If his last departure is on the Sea Princess on a Sydney to Southhampton cruise this would be the begining of the world cruise from Australia and will leave Sydney on the 5th of June and arrive in England on the 25th of July. I think he said he was going to do the WC until he got to Italy and get off in his home port...

Motnyl Posted March 3, 2018 #20 Share Posted March 3, 2018 Hi, We were on the SEA PRINCESS three weeks ago, doing the NZ cruise, they had an open mic with captain Giuseppe Romano, a truly great person, he told us since this is his last year as commodore and with princess, he requested the Sea Princess be his last ship, cruising NZ and Australia. His stories and anecdotes of his sea faring years were truly great. I agree a really exceptional Captain ( Commodore ). Cheers Does anyone know if Giuseppe Romano is still at Princess, a few years ago we sailed with him a number of times, but not heard of him lately
joll Posted March 5, 2018 #21 Share Posted March 5, 2018 Check on Google or Youtube for "The day Harri the stowaway Galah came home on sea Princess". This happened on the New Zealand cruise from Australia in January/February 2018. There is video of Commodore Romano returning the Galah to her owners.
