Cruise Lines Dining Room Attire

Hi, I have sailed Carnival, Royal and NCL. I have not had a bad cruise on any of them but would like to try other lines. My only “requirement” is with dinner attire in the MDR. I will absolutely NOT wear a tie. I want to be comfortable at dinner and I am definitely NOT comfortable wearing a tie.

 

 

I have no problem with dockers and a nice polo or buttondown shirt, just NO tie. What othercruise lines would I be able to dress like this, NO tie, during normal dinner nights (not formal/elegant nights, I know a tie would be required on these) other than the three I have already cruised.

 

 

I would appreciate any assistance the valuable members ofCruise Critic can give.

These days, you can probably get away with dockers and shirts you mentioned on Princess.

Any line but Cunard will do just fine. EM

You'd be fine on Princess, Celebrity, HAL ... basically all except Cunard.

As mentioned, you would be fine on Celebrity as well. They no longer have "formal nights" opting to redefine as "chic", with which your choice of dress would be appropriate.

On Princess, a tie is not required for formal nights. I saw plenty of men wearing jackets without ties last month on the Regal Princess.

I think it's mainly the British managed lines which still have a dress code- jackets, ties etc- for formal nights, and even on those you can eat in the buffet and not be formal.

Good plan...ties are so dated nowadays.

 

All lines seem to be heading down the formal/casual thing.

 

Celebrity and Princess would be a nice change.
