tx121 Posted April 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2018 Yesterday and today we ported with Pullmantar Monarch as we all know was Monarch of the Seas. She was the first ship we ever cruised and we became emotional not seeing her with the crown and anchor logo on top. She looks to be in fine condition from the outside. Great memories had on that ship. It’s just weird seeing these former ships transformed into a different company but still feel like they are Royal
The Fun Researcher Posted April 10, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2018 If that happened with the freedom class ships for us, we would feel the same way. Nostalgia and wonderful memories. [emoji1360]. Dan Sent from my iPhone using Forums

ukmdav1 Posted April 11, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Her anchor logo is on Harmony :-) They recycled it!
Clarea Posted April 11, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Her anchor logo is on Harmony :-) They recycled it! I think they talked about using Monarch's Crown & Anchor, but found it was not structurally sound enough to use it.
Biker19 Posted June 4, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 4, 2018 In Curacao again today.
Rare Oceansaway17 Posted June 4, 2018 #7 Share Posted June 4, 2018 I saw this ship in Cayman Islands last year. Reminded me of Sovereign. I was a bit said but then again glad the old girl has some life left. I rather like the dark hull until you get up close that is. Very rough paint job
karkee8807 Posted June 4, 2018 #8 Share Posted June 4, 2018 I totally understand. I was sad to hear when they sold Sovereign and Empress because my first three cruises were on those ships. When they brought back Empress, we were happy about it. My parents sailed on her last spring and enjoyed being on a small ship.

It’s just weird seeing these former ships transformed into a different company but still feel like they are Royal We had the same sad and teary emotions when we saw "Oceanic" in Villefranche Harbor sailing under Pullmantur ownership . She had that distinctive silhouette design with her magnadome (sp) that covered the pool during inclement weather--the pre-cursor to the Solarium. Our first cruise and sailed her from NYC to Nassau in the early 70s. Sailed her again many years later under the Disney as the "Big Red Boat".:ship::(
ONECRUISER Posted June 4, 2018 #10 Share Posted June 4, 2018 In Curacao again today. Yes, seen her few times there and in Aruba when sail on Serenade... First cruise was Sovereign, now just over 30 years ago...
SailingShelley Posted July 20, 2018 #11 Share Posted July 20, 2018 The Monarch was our First Royal Cruise in 1996! (She was so beautiful and nothing like the 13,000 ton "camper" ship NCL Sunward II!) Because of Monarch, Royal became our go to cruise line!

I was looking back for a news posting from Cruise Critic regarding the tech issue for the lists being dropped on Royal Meet and Mingle. Do you know where I can find it? DCT61 Posted July 20, 2018 #14 Share Posted July 20, 2018 I think this was the last class of a truly FINE looking cruise ship.
Anubi Posted July 21, 2018 #15 Share Posted July 21, 2018 Monarch was our first RCL cruise. We were on our honeymoon and had booked a balcony cabin which was really special because there weren't so many of them back then. That summer there were quite a few hurricanes but our cruise managed to dodge them and we had a great time.
