More fake service dog nonsense

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty well adjusted and I put an outfit on Bell every now and then.

Especially during football season.

Oh no, I'm feeling the need to draw attention to myself again.

Very cute dog, but the point is you most likely can function outside your house WITHOUT this cute little dog correct?

You don't need it for comfort when you do something "stressful" like ride in a car or the subway?

You would never be able to book on maxwell of the seas;p

My mom used to knit outfits for the small dog we had years ago for the wintertime

I'm surprised Laura hasn't done that yet.

But then again, we don't have winter

Correct, if I do something stressful, I don't want her near me.

Sorry but I’m going to have to raise the BS Flag on the 24 or 46 dogs on a single flight. Southwest has a limit of 6 (occasionally may go over), but I doubt much over.

How do they decide the 6 if there are numerous and on what criteria?

Yes.

And accurate.

If you think your pup is a child and can’t get through the day without dressing it like a doll get some professional psychological help; don’t make the rest of us deal w your inability to travel without your pet and its accessories. Or stay home.

I have to agree. I still believe these people use their little dogs to get attention from others. They will always find a way to show you their dog. They seem determined to force others to look at their dogs in the little outfits.

Wish I knew how to post a picture here.

My friend sent me one from the Freedom last week of a dog who was painted orange and black, made to look like a lion...parading through the casino...

That's animal abuse, in my book.

Pretty judgemental, don't you think.

I don't think the poster you quoted is judgmental at all

However the poster you quoted does have enough sense to recognize when a person needs needs psychiatric/psychological help

Anyone who dresses their dog up and parades it around like a child has serious issues

Those of us that are well adjusted adults that don’t need to dress up puppies for our emotional well being and amusement?

Who decides who is well adjusted?

Define "well adjusted"?

Come on, stop being obtuse. Society and norms determine this. When 99.9% of society thinks you're an attention seeker for acting like this with a toy dog that's who decides.

It's sad when people do this and claim ridiculous reasons because there really are people that legitimately need a service animal.

So many pseudo psychiatrists on CC.

Who knew.

FWIW, pets are a 60 billion dollar industry. Outfits and accessories are part of that total

Elections are won and lost on a few percentage points. You can't get 99.9% of the population to agree on anything.

You come up with all these utopia ideas, but we do not live in a utopia. First of all, what is wrong with seeking attention? Politicians and clowns (which are sometimes hard to tell apart) do it all the time. Getting attention is something business strive to do (even Royal Caribbean), or why else would they advertise. Groups of people line up in the streets seeking attention for their cause.

I haven't been bothered by any of the dogs I have seen on the ships (not even the ugly one I saw on one cruise), or the one that belongs to a lady who works in the office across the hall from me. Some people enjoy being with their pets - I get it. Some people don't like sharing their vacation with a dog - I get it. But which one is right? There is no one out there who I would trust to make that decision, let alone a group of people.

You can't even get 99.9% of the people on this thread to agree with you.

It's certainly been my experience, and probably the experience of others here on CC. For example, just today you have posted 6 photos of your dog here on a cruise chat website. You've posted hundreds of photos of your dog here over the years. (Who else does that?clear.png?emoji-confused-1977)

While I enjoy reading many of your posts about your cruises and your cruise experiences, I really have no interest in seeing your dog's photos posted on multiple threads here on Cruise Critic. I suspect there are others who may feel the same.

Maybe there is a chat board about tiny dogs somewhere where you could share your doggie pics to a more receptive audience?clear.png?emoji-wink-1685

So true; I don't know how many cat-toys we've bought for our two cats in the last 10 years. They have a basket full of toys they search through for 'that' toy. Now if we could only train them to return their toys to the basket. :D

Seems to me it's only 4-5 people claiming this has something to do with seeking attention

You have to make arrangements ahead of time. You just can't arrive at the airport with a dog. Not sure what the criteria is (above or below my paygrade).

I can tell you from experience, if the dog/dogs are causing a problem before you takeoff, and the Captain gets involved, the dog/dogs are getting off. Probably not much discussion at this point. I have never seen a service dog cause a problem.

I can remember one time a flight attendant came to the cockpit, during loading, to tell me that she had told a lady 3 times that her dog could not be on her lap and she asked her 3 times to put her dog back in the carrier. The lady didn't. I went back and explained to her since she ignored my FA request, she and her dog were getting off my plane and she could discuss her options with the gate agent. She was not very happy.

I am not very computer savvy but perhaps someone could start a poll to determine what percentage of folks care about seeing photos of John's dog.

I don't know about 100's

It's called sharing, some people like Bella, some people like pictures from my balcony, some like pictures of rocket launches. I try and give people things they like.

I get more positive replies on Bella than negative ones

It would get shut down. I really don't bring her out until a thread goes off the rails or questions my sanity
