jhannah Posted July 1, 2018 #9 Share Posted July 1, 2018 We won't be there. I doubt HAL will ever top the naming of Eurodam. So fortunate to have been in Rotterdam for that. Excellent entertainment, and seeing Queen Beatrix.

Excellent entertainment, and seeing Queen Beatrix. I doubt if new Christenings will be as much fun as previous ones. Our favourite was The Westerdam in Venice on St Marks Day. It was a really hot day. Sandra

It was very well done IMO Edited July 1, 2018 by sail7seas

unclerich Posted July 22, 2018 #17 Share Posted July 22, 2018 I'm still curious which ship's Christening, had all the ships' captains present. Anyone remember ? It was the Nieuw Amsterdam. Here's the story https://www.cruisespecialists.com/blogs/holland-americas-nieuw-amsterdam-review-christening/ and a quote: The following day was the actual christening ceremony with Princess Maxima of the Netherlands attending and being named the godmother of the ship. The event was truly amazing. It began with a water parade of fifteen boats; each boat flew a flag with the name of each ship in the Holland America Line fleet and aboard was the captain from that ship. Upon arriving at the docks each captain left their boat and lined up in front of the ms Nieuw Amsterdam with their flags behind them waiting for the arrival of Princess Maxima. Thanks for sharing about which ship it was. :) I appreciate finally being reminded. :) Edited July 22, 2018 by sail7seas
