Royal Princess: Large balcony like on the Golden/Ruby/Grand Princess Caribe Deck?

We have sailed on the ships above and always book the balcony cabins on the Caribe deck (10) which have the larger balconies. We are considering a cruise on the Royal Princess next year and wonder if that ship has some cabins with those larger balconies (for the same price as other balcony cabins;))

Anyone know? Thanks!

The balconies on Royal are smaller than those on the Grand Class ships. To get a larger balcony, you should book a Premium Deluxe Balcony, which are higher priced. We were reluctant to book Royal due to the smaller balconies, but found that we really did not mind the smaller size, but that’s just us.

Check out the obstructed cabins-they seem to have larger balconies and a decent amount of them aren't really even obstructed! You can find them listed under the interior cabins page. We are in E408 for New Years and our obstruction is the jut-out of the promenade deck...so we don't look directly down at the water, otherwise its a large balcony with amazing views!

Royal class ships do not have tiered sides like Grand Class ships. Sides are straight down.

As such, no larger balconies on Caribe deck, etc like Grand class. And all balconies are fully covered by those above.

There are some exceptions, such as aft facing, which is tiered, and some decks do have deeper balconies. Forwsrd facing are larger than normal on Royal class, although classed as obstructed due to metal railings vs glass. Some obstructed views cabins have larger balconies on Emerald Deck.

Mid-ship, at the angled under Seawalk and Seaview have larger balconies.. And so on, they're scattered around...

We have been in 3 different staterooms on the Royal Princess in the past two years and here is what we found: D424 on the hump had a balcony about 65 sq ft; R410 on the hump, balcony was about 80 sq ft; last stateroom was R735 premium aft, balcony was at least 100 sq ft. There are good sized balconies on the Royal class ships, you just have to look for them.

Check out Renmar's "obstructed view cabins website...https://sites.google.com/site/royalregalprincess/

You have to scroll down past the deck plans for the photos.

Choose your ship and scroll through the photos. You'll be able to get an idea of which balconies are bigger.

As posted above, quite a few of the "obstructions" are extremely minimal. We're booked in one in March, it only cost $100 more than an inside (great pricing at the time and it didn't last long).

The side bump-out cabins have a nice pie-shaped balcony with more room. We had D-410 and it was adequate enough for us and we're used to Caribe Deck balconies.

If you really want a lot of space, go with forward-facing cabins on the Marina and Lido Decks. They're massive compared to the others!

L-101, 102, 103, 104, M-101, 102, 103, 104 = regular balcony cabins with deep balconies

L-105, 106, M-105, 106 = mini suites with deep balconies

L-107, 108, M-107, M-108 = corner minis that have the largest balconies of all

Book early as they tend to sell out quickly.

Wow that is a huge balcony and the mini suite has a separate bedroom from the living area. Wonderful. However how much can you really use the balcony while under sail?

We were in L104 on our recent British Isles trip and we had so very little headwind that we were able to use our balcony through the entire duration of the cruise. Our steward cautioned us to be mindful of the wind, but the door is not locked whilst at sea (as has been reported previously).

That's good to hear! (y)
