Jules. Posted August 4, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2018 (edited) I’m off to Norway next week (hoping for sunshine!) & this cruise will be the first that my husband and I have taken alone. We are in an inside cabin on C deck & so we will be spending lots of time out & about exploring the ship. Neither of us are into jolly sing a long sailaways, we much prefer the quiet life. Having never been on a ship with the layout Britannia has I thought I’d ask for a good place to be when we are sailing away that is away from the hustle and bustle but offers good sight lines. Hubby is a keen amateur photographer & I’m excited to share the beauty of the fjords with him. Thank you! Edited August 4, 2018 by Jules. FangedRose Posted August 4, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 4, 2018 The sailaways are conducted around the main outside pools. Anywhere not in the immediate vicinity of these will be fairly quiet.

dallas16 Posted August 4, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 4, 2018 How much longer will P&O carry on with their awful Sailaway parties ? Sent from my SM-T580 using Forums mobile app As long as there are hundreds and hundreds of people all singing and waving their flags like there was on my last P&O cruise. Both of the great British sailaway parties I've been to, there were so many people having a great time. There were also other areas on the top decks where you couldn't hear the music at all so there is something for everyone [emoji846] Sent from my iPad using Forums

daiB Posted August 4, 2018 #11 Share Posted August 4, 2018 It’s a good job not everyone likes them as there would not be enough room for them all. FangedRose Posted August 4, 2018 #17 Share Posted August 4, 2018 Of course but the sail away from Southampton is a great time to enjoy it. But they don't have a sailaway party then. The Great British Sailaway is usually the last port before home. That is the only flag waving, Rule Britannia one that most posters are talking about. Sometimes it is no more than music playing, others have a more party atmosphere, hosted by the Entertainment Team. It depends on the time, and some ports (like Venice) prohibit them due to noise. Sent from my SM-T580 using Forums mobile app That's why they don't have a Party (with a capital P) then. Anyway with the safety drill getting later and later, most people are getting ready for dinner and still unpacking.
molecrochip Posted August 4, 2018 #20 Share Posted August 4, 2018 Sailaway parties depend on a number of factors not least, weather, time of departure, local restrictions, demographic of passengers, other activities on board and availability of the ents team. I love them, many don’t - each to their own, there’s enough other things to do on board!

Never seen a party. How many times? We have sailed since 2003 on P&O and attended many sailaways. We used to have streamers and a brass band on the quayside which sadly has stopped. We are on Ventura soon so will see what sailaways there are then.
