Drinks Package limit-$12 or $13?

When looking into the drinks package I noted that RC states that it includes all drinks priced $12 and under (ok not all drinks but you get me). However, I know that drink prices are more expensive on the bigger ships such as Symphony and Harmony etc and the cocktails which are priced at $12 in most boats are $13 on here.... meaning the are priced out of the drinks package (which is most of the cocktails on offer!)

I did read in a blog that RC make an exception on these ships and the drinks package limit is upped to drinks $13 and below. However I can find no reference to this on RC's website. It just states $12.

Can anyone provide a definitive answer as im slightly concerned I'll be missing out on most of the drinks on board!

Thanks in advance :)

all the interesting drinks, called Royal Cocktails, are priced at $14 so out of range of my drink package. On Mariner I simply paid the difference plus gratuity. But it kind of irks me that I've prepaid for drinks, then with the cap, have my options limited to the cheap cocktails (Jack 'n Cokes etc).

Agree 100% even if this is becoming the norm on most cruise lines.

My experience is that most specialty cocktails, including frozen drinks, drinks of the day, etc.  are within the price of the drink packages regardless of class of ship.  It's not just plain mixed drinks.  Of course anything in a specialty glasses etc would be more, but I never get those.  Wine by the glass selections at the $12/$13 dollar level are generally limited and this is where you may pay extra.

I was just on Anthem a few weeks ago, and even though the letter in our room about the package said the limit was 12$, and that's what it said online too, I ordered several 13$ drinks and never got charged extra - so it seemed like the limit was actually 13$.

Love drink package, includes all 12 year old scotch and most top of the line stuff, even included 18 year old chevis regal on last cruise and bartenders will give you a double if you ask, we do go over limit on some wines.

I thought all bartenders would do a double, but I leanred that wasn't the case. The bartenders in the casino always would give us a double, when I asked for one at the pool bar the bartender told me that's not allowed. I didn't want to say "oh well the guy in the casino does it", I didn't want to get in any trouble. I just knew to tip my casino bartender good and go there for my drinks.

Oh, interesting to hear. When I was on Oasis (albeit a couple years ago now), bartenders were OFFERING to do doubles or upgrade to a more premium liquor saying that it would still fall under the $13 cap and be covered. But I could also see from the company's point of view that this might not be what's best for business... but probably good for tips!

I think it makes sense for them to offer doubles if you have the drink package , otherwise you might just come back ten minutes later. On last cruise after a while they would ask me iwanted a double, will see if this still is the case on oasis in exactly three weeks 😀
