Preacherman46 Posted November 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2018 (edited) I know this has been posted other times but I never checked on them because we have never gone to a beach. We are doing a btb and have a all inclusive beach excursion on each one. Can we check out towels at the pool or what do we do. Thanks. You are allowed two towels per seapass card, and you can take them off the ship. Just remember to bring them back on or you will be charged for them. Clarea Posted November 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 28, 2018 Yes, you can use the pool towels for your excursions. Just be sure to bring them back as you can be charged $25 per towel that is not returned.
natalie2727 Posted November 28, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 28, 2018 I like to use a packtowel. They are a lot thinner so you don't have to carry a bulky big towel, but they dry as well as a terry towel. Check it out on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/PackTowl-Packtowl-Personal-Microfiber-Towel/dp/B079ZRN1M6
cb at sea Posted November 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 28, 2018 You certainly may take off the ship's pool towels...we always take 2 a piece....as long as you return them, this practice will continue!
SRF Posted November 29, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 29, 2018 Many times, they will have a towel checkout either just before you leave the ship, or on the dock just off the ship. And towel return in the same locations.

As it stands, I regularly checked out 4 at a time, and I was cruising solo.

We also routinely check out 4 towels per SeaPass card, on at least 6 different ships in the last couple of years.

It just depends on who has their hands free at the time.
karena1 Posted November 29, 2018 #10 Share Posted November 29, 2018 We always check out 4 towels on one card without any issue. Get them replaced each afternoon when we get back on the ship so we can get ready for the next day!
Rare sparks1093 Posted November 30, 2018 #11 Share Posted November 30, 2018 I may have asked this already but Royal doesn't have pool towels in you cabin for you to use?

SRF Posted December 1, 2018 #13 Share Posted December 1, 2018 Not even in a suite. You get them on the pool deck.
eastoftheboston Posted December 3, 2018 #14 Share Posted December 3, 2018 I took out 12 towels with a single card on Allure. I'm not sure there's a limit! I also wonder if they actually count them when you take them out or bring them back, or if there's just a notice of Room X took out towels, Room X brought back towels. I never saw them counting 12 towels when I brought them back. Maybe they just trusted my big wet towel pile...
wwcruisers Posted January 27, 2019 #15 Share Posted January 27, 2019 Not pleased to hear that RC brought back the pool-towel check-out process. When we left RC for X (back in 2011) it was being phased out -- on the Freedom Class and smaller ships. It was wildly unpopular at the time -- long lines on the pool deck to check-out, exchange, or turn-in towels. Plus, it was competing with the mini-bars as a source of bogus-charge complaints. Folks returned home, having diligently checked in all of their pool towels, only to find a late charge ($20 back then) on their credit card for -- you guessed it -- a pool towel! Rare sparks1093 Posted January 27, 2019 #16 Share Posted January 27, 2019 Just thought of another towel question- do they have towel stations on Coco Cay or do we need to bring them from the ship?
cruiseguy1016 Posted January 27, 2019 #17 Share Posted January 27, 2019 If you walk around the pool deck at 8:00 on the first morning there will be plenty of towels laid out on loungers for you to grab without having to check them out. I think the crew puts them there as a courtesy to the passengers.

SRF Posted January 28, 2019 #19 Share Posted January 28, 2019 Depending the ship, they may have a towel station by the line for the tender or gangway to depart.

We always make sure we have clean towels with us when we leave our stateroom. I don't want to have to rely on a towel station that may or may not be at the gangway. If there is an exchange station when we return to the ship, we'll make the exchange there.
