Senior Citizen Posted April 1, 2019 #1379 Share Posted April 1, 2019 cbb: Regarding Kobe—I just pulled out some of the cruise info and the port was “Kobe Port Terminal.” If that’s the port in 2020, then you just go out the terminal door and turn right. The metro you need to get to Sannomiya Station (for the rapid express train to Kyoto) is about 100 feet ahead on the same level. From port terminal door to Kyoto station was an hour. We got back at 4 pm, in time for Baristas and trivia. At the Kyoto station, there is a large information office where we bought our day pass and got info on how best to maximize our time. In 2018, on the Beijing to Sydney cruise, I had a full day tour of Kyoto arranged for 8 with a Tours by Locals guide. He lives in Kyoto and spent time living/working in the United States before he retired. He took us to his favorite neighborhood restaurant for lunch. We did the tori gates, among other highlights, but not the bamboo area. I have done it on previous visits and it’s a very nice sight to see. Further correction...per the Currents, there WILL be a shuttle, courtesy of Hiroshima City, taking passengers from the pier to the Peace Memorial Park tomorrow. It's Kagoshima that won't have a shuttle because we dock right in town.

Not too many brave souls onboard because it was in the low 50’s with a very cold wind blowing (like riding a convertible in snow country).
cbb Posted April 2, 2019 #1393 Share Posted April 2, 2019 senior citizen- thanks for the response. We'll be there in June and I've already included the routes and maps on my dump document in case we want to do that one of our days there. Sometimes it is a great way to see a place.
