scouseronline Posted January 12, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2019 Today we got off the Celebrity Equinox at the Port of Miami. The wait for the Alamo shuttle was almost 2 hours, 2 shuttles drove right past us at Terminal G. as they were full On our last cruise we experienced the exact same thing, we thought this was a one off, but experienced the same thing today. Unfortunately, during our wait, the Enterprise shuttle showed up once in almost 2 hours so that is no better. We were going to give up and take a taxi but when we phoned Alamo at MIA we were repeatedly told that a bus was on its way to us. Never again will we we rely on the rental shuttle. 1025cruise Posted January 12, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2019 You might want to mention this on the Florida Departures Board.
JimnKaren Posted January 12, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2019 One of the problems with that port is just as you stated. We prefer Port Everglades because of issues like that. Jim
Rare MicCanberra Posted January 13, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 13, 2019 Busy ports, too many passengers, perhaps a private transfer is a better option, for many time and convenience is worth the cost.
leaveitallbehind Posted January 13, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2019 Uber is a much better option.
Rare MicCanberra Posted January 13, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2019 perhaps, although with luggage, they will likely need a UberX.

Hi I agree that the Miami port is a zoo. As far as the shuttle, it's obviously completely hit and miss. My last cruise, I walked out of the terminal assessing the "zoo", and what do I see, but the Alamo shuttle just pulling up. I hurried across to where it stopped, and considered myself lucky. I guess if I saw a few pass that were full, I would consider a taxi or walking to a different terminal.
Rare Hlitner Posted January 13, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2019 We have had hit and miss regarding the shuttles (Alamo was at least free...but some other companies charge for the service). If we cannot connect with the shuttle within a few minutes we simply summon Uber or Lyft (a lot less expensive then taxis and no waiting in the taxi queue). On busy weekends if your ship happens to be docked at one of the last piers visited by the shuttles you will often be out of luck....since the vans can quickly fill before they ever get to your pier.
