Bulldogsoc Posted January 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2019 I notice that NCL permits a cabin occupant to get unlimited use of the Arcade for twenty something dollars per day x 7 days with some restrictions, such as a limit of three games in a row with some type of min down time before new play on that machine and only green card readers are included. It is my understanding that this may include darts and does not include bowling or games that spit out prize tickets. Can anyone who has some recent experience on this and can confirm what type of games are "green swipe" and what is or not included. I thought Jamielogic had some knowledge but for whatever reason I could not message her. It is not cheap but depending on how many games are included, my sone and daughter would certainly spend time in the Arcade daily. THX in advance. littlelulu01 Posted January 21, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2019 I purchased for husband for Alaska bliss sailing. It was just the two of us, no kids and I was allowed to purchase for just him. It was around $56 for the unlimited for the week. Sounds like price has gone up so perhaps the included green swipes are different now? For Bliss when we boarded, husband’s ship card had something on it signifying ultimate arcade pkg. Only his card could be swiped and I think the rules were if more than 3 swipes in 3 minutes the card would be disabled for 15 minutes. I think that’s to prevent one kid from supporting a large group on one pkg. We played air hockey, a few video games in the small arcade. I’d say about 1/2 the games in there or about 5-6 games were green swipes. Some of them were double player and his card allowed both of us to play. They have a two person pirate game that could probably take in a couple hundred/hour with the game asking for another swipe at around $6 every few minutes. We had fun with that. The local had a Mario game. Skeet ball in the local isn’t a green swipe. I’d definitely walk kids through and make certain they know what games are green swipes and which ones are extra to avoid some insane charge. We only visited one night for about 20 minutes and between the two of us definitely spent more than cost for the week pass. It was more of a, geez this place is small, really loud and dark but let’s play a few games just to get our $ worth and get out of here. Kids likely have a different perspective. I didn’t see anyone else in there but that likely depends on the sailing.

cruisewithbaby Posted January 21, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2019 Thank you for this information. I have a 7 and 9 yo at sailing and I’m sure we have to walk passed the arcade to get to the kids club, so was going to get 1 arcade card as the 9yo girl doesn’t care too much for it so will just swipe it for a random air hockey game. 2 questions though to piggy back....I could see them getting excited and swiping the non green games, to avoid the charges could I have their room card have no ability to charge on it? Go to customer service desk for that? What are the cons of disabling their right to buy stuff?? Or 2, my 7yo is actually in the cabin with his grandparents right next door, can I ask for a 2nd room card and just have 1 for charges and 1 for arcade that both open the cabin for him? littlelulu01 Posted January 21, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2019 A green swipe is any game with a green swipe included in the ultimate arcade pkg (UAP). Signified with a green light on the card swipe mechanism on the game. Games not included in arcade pkg are a different color. Those not included games are mainly located towards the front of the arcade. Yes the arcade is in same hall as kids club. Idk if I’d trust a 7 year old to recognize and follow the color coding and would definitely see if his card could be fixed so he can’t spend on it. Perhaps guest services? When you pre purchase or have an included pkg the passengers who have a pkg will have it noted on their card. Ubp or soda or UAP..so the cards with the pre purchased pkg will be ready to play when you check in for cruise boarding and pick up the ship cards... id also spend some time in there till you’re sure he’s aware of what’s included and what isn’t. As adults we couldn’t stomach being in there long just due to noise from all the games.
Rare JamieLogical Posted January 21, 2019 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2019 Sorry! Just saw this post! When I was on the Escape in October darts, pool, racing games, shooting games, air hockey, basketball, guitar hero were all included. Skee ball, bowling, and any other games that awarded prizes or tickets were not included.
avgsuperheroine Posted January 21, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 21, 2019 Where do you purchase these packages?
Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted January 21, 2019 #9 Share Posted January 21, 2019 on ncl.com, in your cruise planner. I think it's under Gifts. However, the price went up to a very unreasonable $50+/per day per person some time in November, so we were unwilling to pay that kind of money for an arcade. awreaper Posted January 21, 2019 #11 Share Posted January 21, 2019 We are just off the Bliss. I am not sure how much the arcade package costs but it looked like only about 25% or less of the games were covered under this package.
MamaLady76 Posted January 21, 2019 #12 Share Posted January 21, 2019 It is $161/person on our 7 day Escape sailing to the Bahamas. Tehcnically 3 swipes every 3 minutes you could share the card between 2-3 people. We just have the 2 kids so it works out perfect for us. It comes out to $11.5/kid/day for the 7 days. Ultimate Arcade Package DETAILS Play on (and on and on)! Purchase the Ultimate Arcade Package and enjoy unlimited arcade games for your entire cruise. Ultimate Arcade Package must be purchased for at least one guest within the stateroom. Guests can play select arcade games for the duration of their current cruise. That's disappointing.

Only one person has to buy it per cabin. I just paid $161 for 15 days for my one daughter to have it. That is about $10.75 a day. It was the same price as a 7 day cruise so it was a great deal especially if you have more than one kid.

The current rate is $23/day and the pass can be shared between multiple people. The limitation is that it can only be swiped 3 times in a 3 minute period. Still way too rich for my blood. I liked it much better when it was only $8 a day, but everyone had to have their own pass. That worked out much better for us, since there are only two of us, so it worked out to only $16 per day. Joy's green swipe arcade selection is MUCH bigger than the Breakaways. downside: there's no pool table on the Joy. 😞 i'll probably get it for the 21day bliss in April. (Bliss has a pool table, right?) Any discount if you get the arcade package on the 2nd day? (like the discount at the spa if you buy the package on the 2nd day) Edited February 21, 2020 by fstuff1
