Celebrity app for Muster drill

Didn’t see any place on celebrity site to ask this, but has anyone tried to get Celebrity to create an app to go over what is presented in the drill, that way people don’t have to be rounded up before sailing. This could be presented as a high tech improvement over existing procedures.

I think by law Celebrity has to make sure everyone participates and an app would severely diminish participation - people just wouldn't participate. Then no one would know what to do in an emergency. Not that many people pay much attention during the muster drills but making people go to their assigned locations so that they know where to go is better than people running around frantic in an emergency.

Plus, we all know Celebrity's track record with technology. I doubt it would even work.

The muster drill is not just for you -- it's training for the crew, as well. They have to get a whole ship-load of strangers to their muster stations, do a head count, and present the drill information, in an orderly and timely manner. In addition to the 'public' muster drill, the crew also participates in muster exercises -- often on port days, when most of the pax are off the ship. Important stuff! 😎

I guess that there are going to be some things in life that cannot be done on your phone, ipad or tablet, even your laptop.

Some things where you just have to show up.

Oh, the humanity!!!

The last few MD’s we’ve attended have been a joke. They crowd too many in spaces where the life jacket demo is not viewable by all and the audio is not in ears reach.  I pity the ship that has a real emergency after not properly explaining the procedures.

Not going to happen. It is not just the info presented. By Maritime Law passengers must go to their muster stations.

Last cruise, we arrived 15 minutes before the drill start time.

The drill started 30 minutes after the start time (so I'm sitting there 45 minutes already) because they were waiting for guests to arrive.

The actual drill itself took very little time, including the washy washy video. 😂

Any idea why they can't hold multiple drills for people to choose from to attend on the first day? Wouldn't that lead to less congestion, and possibly happier guests because the whole experience would be shorter and quicker?

They close down all the venues during the drill. The crew directing passengers is part of the drill. They have an assignment. The drill is to take place before the ship sails.

In a real emergency all will be participating at the same time, passengers and crew.

Perhaps you never heard of the Costa Concordia? [emoji848]

The drill is repeated on your TV if you want a rerun

I agree. Our last muster drill was in the casino. Sitting on slot machine stools 20 or 30 feet away from the TV playing the spy movie - poor sightlines and impossible to hear anything.
