Think you must be on a different cruise from us.  Conditions are “interesting” but have known much worse.  At least the elevators have been kept running.

Yep, I remember the elevators being grounded when we were on Navigator in Alaska.  That was pretty interesting.

My opinion.  This is the roughest seas we have ever been in.  We have commented we are surprised the elevators are still running.  When crossing the Drake Passage they did shut down the elevators.  Luckily we love the motion of the ocean and are enjoying riding this one out.  Never been on a ship before with broken glasses and dishes from the seas.  Never been on a ship where items fall off the shelves in your cabin.  So stick with my opinion, this is the roughest seas WE have ever been in.  I am sure there are rougher seas but we have never been in them.

Have experienced all of the above several times but do agree that this is the roughest transatlantic we have experienced.  Crossed many times in both directions  and have always been amazed at how calm it has been. Seems our luck ran out this time.

Just talked with the Captain of the ship.  He told me there is an official scale 1 - 12.  According to that scale, the last few days have been a 6 and 7.  The worst seas he has ever sailed in were a 9.  I am sure an internet search would bring up the scale.  A six time World Cruiser fell for the fest time ever.  The other Captain who lives on the ship has an escort every time he leaves his cabin.  Thankfully, the seas are now back to normal.  Galley lunch today.  Tomorrow is the last day for free laundry.  The trip is coming to an end.

Thank you for your report.  Sounds like you are a good sailor.  Luckily, so are we.  In the Tasman Sea we had 30 foot waves (scale of 9...I looked it up).  We did fine but would not have wanted to go up to a 10 in the scale...that’s for sure.  I do hope it settles down so all can enjoy the last few days.

Hi HotRoot. Well tomorrow your great odyssey ends, I really enjoyed you reports thanks so much for taking the time to post them. I will be on the look out for you coming up the river in the morning. You are lucky as its not going to rain Wednesday. I believe we had some sort of rain 25 out of the last 30 days. It will be cool at 67 degrees.

It is funny but we are ready for the trip to end.   Maybe it is because our cabin is full of packed suitcases.  Bermuda was wonderful.  Have never been there before and can imagine going back.  Not as many tears at the final Krew Kapers as we expected but there were tears.  It helped that we have had enough of a crew change that we do not know all of the performers.  That also meant some new acts which was nice.  One final gathering this morning called The Last Night of the World - World Cruise Farewell.  The singers and dancers have not changed.  Most of them leave the ship in New York.  Three are staying on to help the new group with the production shows.  They will leave in Amsterdam.

Some confusion with Luggage Free.  Passages said to stop at their desk if you have questions.  It should have said to stop at their desk to pick up your packet.  Somebody figured it out and the word was spread.  I will follow this thread and the Regent board for about another week and then I am off.  I only read Cruise Critic on cruise lines that I am booked pn.

Hey, we'll miss you!  I always read CC, even when I'm not booked (although I guess that's not often.)

We'll be interested to hear how Luggage Free does their job.  Have they told you how long it will take for luggage to arrive home?  (I'm interested because we'll probably do a post-cruise stay when we do our WC.)

They guarantee one week but estimate 5 days.  Yours will probably take longer since they are coming from Europe.  They will have to do something about Customs.

I hope you have an uneventful trip home. Thanks for all your input on your WC. Your posts have been helpful. If by chance you lurk on the next few Regent WC roll calls and you feel you can help us, please chime in. You will be remembered with gratitude.

Just passed the Statue of Liberty.  What a sight to see.  It is good to be back in the USA.  Our deck is 1/3rd World Cruisers.  Last night we had suitcases from one end to the other.  We are on 6 so only 31 cabins.  It looks like we are averaging 8 suitcases per cabin.  Appreciate the gratitude.

You are correct - Luggage Forward.  I called it the wrong thing.  It worked very easy.  They never weighed anything.  I asked previously onboard if they had a scale.  The lady said she could lift it and tell if it was overweight.  Once they accepted the bag, if it was overweight, they would cover the extra cost.  She never lifted a bag so I don't think weight really matters.

It's easy to confuse the names. They are 2 different companies. Regent used Luggage Free at least through the 2017 World Cruise, and then switched to Luggage Forward.

Welcome home to all of the world cruisers!

Hot Root, thanks for all of your postings!

As Wendy mentioned it is worth the time to go to Ubud which is in the the north and much cooler due to elevation.  We have stayed at two fantastic hotels there.  The Four Seasons and the new Ritz Carlton are fantastic.  Denpasar is more for the beaches and partying night life.

Cannot recommend that Four Seasons.  Very poor service and did not feel very safe.  Food left my stomach feeling iffy.  If you do venture to Ubud be sure to hire a police escort or it could take hours to get there.

Thanks for the tip.  I'd much rather stay at a smaller, more boutique-style hotel anyways.  Haven't looked for options yet, since it's so far in the future.

I'm surprised Regent parted ways with ANYTHING with 'free' in their name!  I can see the marketing materials now, "Free Included Luggage Free!  Free!"    :classic_laugh:
