mfs2k Posted March 27, 2019 Author #26 Share Posted March 27, 2019 (edited) Within five minutes of arriving alone in Blu for breakfast: I was greeted by name by Lara, the hostess who remembered my cabin number. I was warmly patted on the back by Amir, the maître d’ who said hello then seated at a nice table facing the ocean. Jerrold asked if I’d like my Americano with steamed milk. Iryana offered me a croissant or muffin: Flor asked if I wanted juice. Natasha poured my water. Felix came to take my order. The service is unbelievable here. Ps. Olha brought me a second Americano and was incredibly friendly and nice. Edited March 27, 2019 by mfs2k

I love having my coffee appear magically without effort on my part before my brain is engaged yet! The view is gorgeous in the morning and it all feels so very decadent. We always tip additionally and generously at the end of our trip and I really can't imagine getting any better service than we have if we'd done it as we go along, I think they just pride themselves on taking wonderful care of their guests.

Luvcrusn Posted March 27, 2019 #29 Share Posted March 27, 2019 Someone posted on the social media site we can't name that Crème Brulee was being discontinued. I find it hard to believe since it's on the everyday menu and a passenger favorite along with it being made with inexpensive, plentiful and easy to access ingredients. Can you verify or debunk? Thanks.

39august Posted March 27, 2019 #33 Share Posted March 27, 2019 Will you please see if LaToya is still the concierge? She has a great attitude and will help anyone regardless of whether they are in a concierge class cabin or not. Her desk is adjacent to the Captain's Club hostess on, I believe, deck 7. In fact she laughed at the suggestion. Myth debunked.

I saw a beer list that I believe was from the Summit (Cellar Masters) that actually had a wider selection. Maybe the food is what distinguishes it? mfs2k Posted March 27, 2019 Author #38 Share Posted March 27, 2019 After my breakfast I return to the cabin or DW was waking up. I went with her to the ocean view café for a buffet breakfast and then we decided to go to Costa Maya after all. The end of the pier is a literal tourist trap. It is a maze to get out of the place and you have to walk past stores, restaurants, peddlers, and all sorts of attractions including swim with the dolphins and a mini pool resort. I have read online that Mahahual (Majahual) is the place to go, so we found a taxi driver who took us there for eight dollars. He let us off in a big sign for the beach by a lighthouse. We had no idea where to go. We didn’t see any beach chairs or a nice beach. We were going to just sit on the sand and decided to walk a bit down the pass and we discovered a small “ day pass beach club called Blue Kay. For $12 each we got lounge chairs and 2 drinks. I also ordered chips and salsa for an additional $5. There was an area set up for massages on the beach. The price was $20 for 30 minutes or $40 for an hour. I got an hour massage and my wife got 30 minutes. We tipped well. It was well worth it. At 2 we found taxis back to the ship where we hung out by the pool and I got to catch up with cruise critic and email. Dinner tonight is at Murano. We are looking forward to it Here are some pics.

Rare chemmo Posted March 28, 2019 #45 Share Posted March 28, 2019 So enjoying following your review! We are on Equinox in September (third time) but have never thought of eating in the Gastropub...After seeing the menu we just might. Any idea what time food is available (lunch and evening). Don’t worry if you don’t have time we can find out ourselves. I am so pleased you are enjoying Equinox, we love the S class ships! Hope you enjoy Murano’s as much as we do. We tried it the first time we were on the Equinox. I think they bring the food from the MDR galley, so it took a while to get. The burgers were so-so because they weren't terribly hot. The cheddar soup was good, though. And thanks, by the way, for a great thread.

Perhaps we will stick with burgers poolside!
mfs2k Posted March 28, 2019 Author #48 Share Posted March 28, 2019 Last night was the Full moon deck party where people were supposed to dress in white. After reading Cruise Critic for months I expected only a handful of participants. I was blown away by the crowd of enthusiastic party goers. It was awesome to see. Who says celebrity ships are full of boring old people who fall asleep at dinner with their face in the soup? I think I read that somewhere. Maybe not. Heres a brief video. See for yourself. 025D6C42-446D-41C6-A0AA-7550D932179A.MOV
mfs2k Posted March 28, 2019 Author #49 Share Posted March 28, 2019 Last night the 4 of us went to the 7pm show to see Ashlie Amber Harris perform a tribute to Whitney Houston. She was excellent. Such a great singer and she has such a warm personality. We met and chatted with AAH on the tender from Cayman so that added a bit of a personal touch while watching her perform. After the show I picked up the bottle of Dom Perignon from the Premium celebration package I ordered from Celebrity Gifts and brought it to Murano for dinner. The Maitre D chilled the bottle and we toasted to our anniversary and finished the bottle pretty quickly. It was good! Dinner was excellent. I had Lobster Bisque, Mushroom Risotto, Chateaubriand, Sautéed Lobster and a Grand Mariner Soufflé. Everything was delicious. When we finished they brought ANOTHER anniversary cake to us. We got a nice picture but I couldn’t eat it. We were all too full. After dinner we watched the Full Moon Party then went to the casino. I lost $100 in slots then won it back and cashed out even. Then we went to bed. Today is Cozumel and we’re headed to Mr. Sancho’s All inclusive Beach Club ($55pp). We have reservations. I fear Cozumel will be a zoo. 6 ships scheduled to be in port. We shall see.
FlorenceItaly Posted March 28, 2019 #50 Share Posted March 28, 2019 Fabulous picture. You are a beautiful couple. So, when is the next cruise??? You can join us on the Summit, June 16. It's close to home for you. Looking forward to hearing about your day in Cozumel. We typically book Nachi Cocom but would like a bit of a change.
