Seaside Royal Suite perks and amenities

We are new to the forum and MSC.  We have stayed in the NCL Haven several times and wanted to ask a few questions. We are staying in the Royal Suite on the MSC Seaside May 18th, 2019.

1) Does the Royal Suite have free current in-room movies like the NCL Owners suites?

2) Can you request certain items from the butler such as an extra ice chest and a can of whipped cream for coffee?

3) Are there any 3D movies in any theater?

4) Are there outdoor movies on any nights?

5) Are Dockers and a collared polo shirt acceptable any night in the YC restaurant (even formal nights)?

6) Is the MSC For Me wristband included with the Royal Suite?

7) Can the Royal Suite in-room food service order from any YC or specialty restaurant menu like you can in Owners & Deluxe Owners suites on NCL?

8- Do the butlers escort you to shows, specialty dinners and departures at ports?

9) Are there any special perks/amenities that come with the Royal Suite different than the listed YC amenities?

I know this is several questions but we REALLY like the NCL Haven but have always wanted to try MSC to see how they compare on upper room levels and were lucky enough to get a Royal suite with only 44 days left before the cruise (someone MUST have cancelled and we were just lucky enough to see it 1st). Any other hints or comparisons will be Greatly appreciated!!

We are also staying in the Royal Suite (yc3) later this year.

We have done the yacht club before & this particular cabin on the Divina. I do not recall ANY different amenities than the other YC cabins.

I do find it odd that they DO charge for in room movies in the yacht club.

Dockers & polo would be fine in the restaurant. You will always find those that dress fancier than you & those that dress more casual.

As far as the butlers go...they have more people assigned to them on the Seaside than on the other ships.

Of course you can request to be escorted somewhere but you might have quite a wait. I am sure they are assigned to at least a dozen other cabins each.

I do not think you can order from the specialty restaurants as they are not included with that cabin.

First of all, congrats on scoring the cabin.

You will enjoy the large, spacious cabin with 2 TVs. But, NO, the on demand movies are for a fee. ours were about $5.00 each.

You will enjoy the private hot tub on your deck. Prosecco and chocolate strawberries are a perk. Mini fridge is stocked with assorted drinks and snacks. They are all free and will be restocked each day.

We were given YC MSC wristbands for free . they work great when using priority elevators . Just scan , see green light, then put in your floor.

Speciality restaurants are additional, unless you are Black Card. Then you can select one to have dinner.

We usually ordered room service breakfast, in addition to the supplied Nespresso coffee machine. Asked for extra pods, some decaf, and they were quickly supplied.

Did enjoy the YC restaurant for lunch and dinner. drinks and wine were available by the glass at meals in YC.

We are pretty do it ourself type people. So, did not request much of butler.

concierge did escort us to Cirque special show with dinner. That was pretty uncomfortable, as she took us to the front of the line.

For rest of the shows, we just went on our own and selected seats up front.

When we disembarked, had asst butler take our luggage out with us. We did not leave luggage out the night before, as we were staying until lunch before saying “Farewell” to a wonderful cruise. (This was arranged in advance and they made sure no one was coming to occupy the cabin that day)

Otherwise, concierge would hold luggage and we could hang out in the YC .

Have a great time. Having done Haven many times, we are now MSC converts.

The Royal Suite has an included cabana on the sundeck.

Dockers and polo shirt are fine on any night.

A butler (not necessarily yours) will quickly get you off of the ship at ports (skipping the mass exodus).  You can also skip any lines getting back to the ship such as when tendering (no butler needed...just show that you are Yacht Club).

We had 16037 which had a few issues but those issues have all been fixed. 16024 also had a few issues but I believe that those have been fixed, too.

We just were on Seaside and movies are $8.  Can't tell you selection.  Which Royal do you have?  Escorts to shows each night and reserved seating for all yc last two rows center.

Welcome to CC btw.

I think OP was referring to MSC Seaside!  You must be referencing another ship. Cirque du Soleil is only on Meraviglia generation ships.  On Seaside, they do hold a few rows of seats in the back of the theater, but  escorts from YC to the shows are not given as a rule.  The other reason I suspect you are confused about what ship you were on is the "late" departure.  Seaside starts and ends in Miami, unlike the cruises outside the US.  All passengers must debark before they can let passengers back on, due to having the ship cleared by US government authorities.  As a rule, Seaside has all passengers leave the ship by 10:30

1) Does the Royal Suite have free current in-room movies like the NCL Owners suites? I'm not sure. I didn't watch TV.

2) Can you request certain items from the butler such as an extra ice chest and a can of whipped cream for coffee? Yes. My butler delivered a pot of American coffee every morning at 6am with Baileys Liqueur. You can authorize them to enter without knocking and they'll leave it on the counter over the mini-fridge (just remember not to lock the top lock). My wife and I would take it out on the veranda and drink it while the sun was rising every morning. Very nice.

3) Are there any 3D movies in any theater? Yes, there's even a 4-D theater on board.

4) Are there outdoor movies on any nights? Yes

5) Are Dockers and a collared polo shirt acceptable any night in the YC restaurant (even formal nights)? Yes

6) Is the MSC For Me wristband included with the Royal Suite? Yes. Indeed it is included for all Yacht Club passengers.

7) Can the Royal Suite in-room food service order from any YC or specialty restaurant menu like you can in Owners & Deluxe Owners suites on NCL? All except the specialty restaurants. Those items are served in those areas at an additional cost, even for Royal Suite and YC guests.

8- Do the butlers escort you to shows, specialty dinners and departures at ports? Yes, if you ask your butler they will do that for you. The specialty dinning venues are a real close to the Royal Suites, so you wouldn't need a butler escort to those locations. They are literally 30 yards away, maybe.

9) Are there any special perks/amenities that come with the Royal Suite different than the listed YC amenities? Royal Suite guests get use of their own private cabana up on the YC pool deck located on the same side of the ship as their suite (port or starboard). Those are available to all YC guests at a price ($59 on port days; and $99 on sea days), but included in the price of the Royal Suite. It comes stocked with your favorite drinks, they'll bring you hors d'oeuvres and cool towels too. Just about everything else that I can think of at the moment is available to everyone in the YC (I'll correct myself if I think of something later - we're embarking back aboard Seaside in the Royal Suite on June 29th, can't wait!).

good day - we were very fortunate to have sailed in the Royal Suite aboard the Seaside last year for a total of 4 weeks - 2 in March and 2 in december.  Yes, the cabana by the pool is included (thank you to me, as i got this amenity started for the Royal Suite) - however, the amenities with food and drinks are only given to you once per week - not everyday - the other days, the butlers are still attentive for cocktails, but not food service in the Cabana (except for once per week)

In December, the YC Director encourages us to have dinner on the Balcony 1 night - so they came and set up a new table/chairs/name tags for 8 of us - that was wonderful - it was served course-by-course.

i truly think they need to start to do more for the RS guests as the prices of the RS's are getting a little crazy - i would like to see a private escort onto the ship / i would like to see to be in contact with concierge prior to sailing / i would also like to see a few more complimentary inclusions (ie, movies (but we dont really watch), perhaps included laundry service, perhaps limo service to/from hotel or airport.

The YC product is amazing already and very hard to find more inclusions, but as i mentioned the rates are going thru the roof and they will need to justify the difference, not just in space

we are going on Meraviglia in the RS this year, but no dining facilites  in the suite or balcony - so something like this would need to be rectified.

Hope this helps...

Hope you are able to get some of those things added, that would be nice.  Thanks for the cabana.

We embark aboard when you get back, June 29th! We'll be enjoying 16037 the week of July 4th. We put our three daughters in the suite next door 16029.

I have to agree with you, Marco.  I couldn't believe that RS didn't get any more than a regular YC cabin.  The price difference is so great that those paying for those suites deserve a lot more exclusive attention and inclusions.  Even if one were within our budget (which will never be the case), I don't think the cost would justify it.

WOW, That's pretty smart max996.  Get the privacy and space but keep the daughters close but also let them have their own space.

I'll put some reading materials for you between the mattresses like the sales guys used to do.

I’m enjoying this thread. Thanks to all who have contributed! We have 16024 booked for next spring break. I just found out when DD will be out of school a few weeks ago, and I was shocked to see that one of the RSs was available! The price was “only” about $2k higher than a deluxe suite, so we decided to splurge. Can’t wait!

Awesome dexddd! Thank you. They may find it and dispose of it, but you can ask the butler (I hope it's still Manoj - he's the best) that you're leaving it for us and he'll make sure we get it.

Don't forget that you can store your luggage under the bed - you have to lift the mattress though, but there's plenty of room underneath. We put four suitcases under there last summer.

Absolutely rjwynn. We're obviously fortunate enough to be able to do that for our family, and for that I am truly thankful. I would like one of the "super family suites" but they have none in the yacht club. I think there are rooms that sleep five on Seaside, but my daughters are a little older now and the mattress on the sleeper sofa is not comfortable for children over 110 lbs and/or 63" tall when there are two battling for sleeping positions. And you already mentioned the adult "privacy." I mean what's the point of going on the "Love Boat" if you can't partake a few times on board with your significant other?

There are deluxe on Seaside that sleep five and I see one of the other rooms our group has booked is one of those.  The RS has doors for the master so at there is privacy there.

I don't recall a Manoj this time around but Vishnu had and said he will be the butler for our room in June.  He is a superman.

ETA Fabio the piano guy left - did they have a similar guy?

Robert the YC director will have his last week with us before vacation so you'll have somone else.

That's unfortunate about Robert. I think he was the YC Director that started the YC Pool parties. I hope they continue that on our voyage. Those are nice. I've always said YC passengers can party as hard as the next passenger. The dinners up on the YC pool deck aboard MSC Divina are fantastic!

The pool party was great as was the food.  Almost wished we skipped dinner or ate light and had food there.

The Manoj thing has been on my mind.  I'd have to check my notes or talk to group, but pretty sure he was one of our butlers on Divinia.  He was about 50 with good head of hair, about 5 foot 9 from India.  If so, he wasn't on a couple weeks ago.

I do recall initial reports people saying Seaside was a step back in service from Divinia due to larger size but that was not the case for us.

Manoj was our butler on Divina and we saw him again on Seaside last July.

He is from India.  He might be about 5'9" but no taller.

We really liked him as our butler on Divina and he seemed so happy that we remembered him when we saw him on Seaside.
