Let me be more exact -- on the Lido deck around the pool = The MIX ( bar) , next to it is Salty Dog Grill , across the pool is Coffee and Cones, next to it is Slice ( pizza).

Thank you very much.

DW will get her fresh-brewed coffee in the morning, and I won't have to go very far from our Lido deck cabin to get it.☺️

I believe the are open from 11 to 11 though.  So no early morning coffee there.  Down to IC or drink the coffee in the buffet area on Lido deck.

Oh, no.😢 I guess she can still get her coffee on those sea days when she sleeps to 11, but it looks like I'll have to go all the way down to deck 5 to get her coffee if she's awake before then. You don't want to deal with her in the morning before she's had her coffee. She has been drinking fresh brewed coffee for breakfast on our last six cruises on Princess, so I don't think she's ready to go back to the other stuff.

This is exactly how I remember it being except that everything had a different name.

More ways to milk that extra money out of you.  I wish they would stop.

stop what exactly ?? giving cruisers additional food venues "IF THEY WISH TO USE THEM" ...

Creating another paid coffee spot.  Using space that used to be used to seat people for included meals, and replace with seats you need to pay to sit in to get food.

On the Caribbean Princess changing the name of the Trident Grill to the Salty Dog did not change the use of any seats.  The only change was to the menu and charging extra for one very over-rated sandwich.  The hot dog and fries are still good and still free.

Same for the changing of name of the Prego Pizzeria to Slice.

I hope they'll still have the DELICIOUS onion rings every other or every third day at the Salty Dog as they did when it was called the Trident Grill.

😁 🍟

Wow - I never saw them make Onion Rings!  Love Onion rings 🙂

First hours on the Emerald out of DD -- Embarkation was a breeze -- first cruise ship out of Vancouver this season.

First impressions -- Every nut/bolt has been painted, no left over work men from DD - everything seems to be complete, new carpet in most common areas, new flat screen TV in rooms, Ocean Medallion wire seems done - OD displays at all the cabin doors - not active yet, some new machines in the casino, Horizon Court is now World Food Market,Planks, and Steemers, all new table and chairs on deck 14 food areas, new pizza, cones and Salty Dog.

Ciao for now

LAS

I didn't remember that you were on board.

If you get a chance could you ask about the onion rings ?

When we were on her last year , even if they didn't have them that day they knew which day they would.

But then you could always tell because those days there were LOONG lines!

The coffee drinkers seem to like that they have another option.  The food at all of those places is still free (one fancy burger has a charge) You don't have to pay, or buy anything to sit there.  Don't get your complaint.

I guess I will just need to wait till September when I sail the Emerald.  I will need to see for myself.  We like Princess a lot.  Last sailed the Star in 2017.  Have not been on on of the ships with all these "extras" yet.  I am just concerned over how the industry has changed.  Our sailing goes back to the Midnight Buffet days.

Thank you. I will probably be there every morning to get coffee for DW - either to take back to the cabin or to take with us to the omelet station in the buffet - maybe both.

Coffee and Cones on the Grand didn’t have brewed, just fancy coffees. 😕

That’s been awhile, hopefully it’s changed.

I just looked at the Coffee and Cones menu. Although they do not have standard fresh-brewed coffee, they have Americano. I guess DW can try that and see if she prefers it to the coffee in the buffet.

I've heard of Americano - but what makes that different from regular brewed coffee ... I've never been inside a Starbucks ...

An Americano is espresso with extra water, made to taste like regular coffee.

It's what you would get at a coffee bar that didn't have regular brewed - just specialty coffees.

The problem on Princess is that if you don't have an unlimited drink package the Americano will take a punch from your 15 on the coffee card where the brewed won't .

Did you read page one of this thread? I guess not since you also found it necessary to start your own thread on this several days old already well discussed news.

Your sarcasm is duly noted.   I did use the search engine before I posted, but it didn't display any postings regarding the fire.

I will just have to see whether or not DW likes Americano. Since we booked this cruise under the Sip and Sail promotion, I don't have to worry about punches for coffee.☺️ The only 15 drink limit I have to worry about is for alcoholic beverages, and DW will probably not drink more than two.

Someone on the Emerald Princess needs to call the bridge and tell them to turn the bridge camera on.  I am tired of looking at the view seen when entering the shipyard in March.

Also, please report on whether or not the new TV's have the on-demand programing.
