First hours on the Emerald out of DD -- Embarkation was a breeze -- first cruise ship out of Vancouver this season.

First impressions -- Every nut/bolt has been painted, no left over work men from DD - everything seems to be complete, new carpet in most common areas, new flat screen TV in rooms, Ocean Medallion wire seems done - OD displays at all the cabin doors - not active yet, some new machines in the casino, Horizon Court is now World Food Market,Planks, and Steemers, all new table and chairs on deck 14 food areas, new pizza, cones and Salty Dog.

Ciao for now

Thank you very much for the information. A post from someone who is there is a lot better than speculation.

Is there anyplace to get fresh-brewed coffee on the Lido deck (like Coffee and Cones on the Caribbean Princess)?

DW likes her coffee. We have a Lido deck stateroom, and I'd love to be able to get her a cup in the morning without going all the way down to the International Café.

After reading a post on the Emerald Princess 2019 Drydock thread, I saw that the description of Emerald Princess on the Princess website now lists Slice Pizzeria and Coffee and Cones under Included Dining. But the deck plan still shows Pizza and Ice Cream Bar on the Lido deck.

Could you please confirm what is actually on the ship.

True, but if you click on the Public Areas tab on the Lido Deck page of the deck plans, the list of venues does say Slice and THE MIX. And makes no reference to the name (old or new) of the stations that distribute ice cream and hot dogs & hamburgers.

So I would assume the deck plans to be still a "work in progress" (to use the polite euphemism). And will also assume the somewhat clipped opening post does refer to Coffee and Cones and Salty Dog Grill based on the similar slight misnaming of  (*choke* * gag*) World Fresh Marketplace.

We're pleased to hear they are adding Planks and Steamers aft of the World Fresh Marketplace like they have done on CB. We found the breakfast offerings much better in those venues. We were able to get eggs and omelets made to order back there. Since most people didn't seem to know they could continue on back to those venues for breakfast there was always seating. We enjoyed trying the different lunch offerings back there as well. We didn't try Planks of Steamers on CB but will do so when we sail Emerald in November. I will order from Planks and my wife will order from Steamers. Since they just run together it will be easy to do and we will each get what we like. We also enjoyed the updated offerings at Salty Dog Grill. We didn't try the updated offerings at Slice.

We were very happy with the food in World Fresh market place on the CB last October. It was often hard to choose between the options at lunch and dinner. There were a couple of nights that my DH wanted to eat there instead of Club Class! I got an omelet in the back area one day, and it was good. You got to put your filling ingredients in a dish and they cooked it up and brought it to you.

How does that differ from the "old" way of getting the eggs and omelets made to order in the main section of the buffet?

Well first off you cannot get a omelet in Horizon Court they do not serve or make them. What they serve is not omelets, not even close to real omelet, they are servicing folded scrambled eggs. Any real chef or  guests they knows food would laugh at Princess calling them omelets.  Not to mention that they do not use natural eggs but a processed product from a carton.

Real omelet is made using a omelet pan, it is never made on a flat top grill. Made from beaten fresh eggs, with a little milk, cream or water, also cooked in a pan using fresh butter, also never stirred like fake omelets made a a grill. Slow cooked on a much lower heat then folded or scrambled eggs omelets are folded around a filling. The filling is not cooked into the finished product to be folded around a filling like cheese, chives, vegetables, mushrooms, meat, ham, bacon, etc. Real omelets are fluffy with soft centers and not color showing on the outside, just the natural egg yellow color. I hope one of the changes made is real omelets but I would not bet on it.

We were happy with the World Fresh Market on Caribbean Princess so, hopefully, will also be on Emerald.  :classic_biggrin:

I agree with you;  have been on both ships and most recently CB in Feb.  World Fresh Market is great addition

Any chance they added any covered area for sun loungers.

We were on her for a month last year and will be on her for a month next year and not being abler to find  loungers in the shade was our only complaint.

Embarkation may have gone well but leaving dry dock did not. It has been reported that they had a fire on the ship when it was leaving dry dock. Don't think that was in the plan. Looks like it was very minor and handled well.

Thanks !!!  I was following her progress and noticed she didn't move for several hours -- was very late getting into Vancouver.

Agree that the offerings at the Grill (hot dogs are some of the best I have had on a ship) however I found the Pizza at Slice to be same dismal creations as before (used to love Princess pizza on deck but find they have gone way down hill)

Let me be more exact -- on the Lido deck around the pool = The MIX ( bar) , next to it is Salty Dog Grill , across the pool is Coffee and Cones, next to it is Slice ( pizza).
