Icon of the Seas Blocks Are In The House!

Recommended Posts

Makes sense to have food venues in the neighborhoods - especially the Surfside. So the families can stay there and don´t have to go up to the Windjammer.

Indulge Food Hall onboard Norwegian Prima is really great. The only downside there is that there is not enough seating. It´s so popular that you hardly find a table.

We were wondering about an outdoor seating area on deck 5.

This space between the edge of the Hideaway pool and the open air (and Surfside below) will help prevent guests from splashing people below. And dropping their Ramos Gin Fizz on them as well. 😄

Another view of the Crown's Edge.

Some of those escalators.

Nice to see a stairway between the Promenade and Central Park.

Construction Update - AquaDome Takes Shape Video

A new clip has been posted on Royal’s press centre, showing the process of installing the AquaDome onto Icon. Here are a few screenshots and the link too!

“We’ve over-scaled the amount of lounge space for guests on theIcon of the Seas versus any other ship. That is purposeful to give more space,” said Jay Schneider, senior vice president and chief product innovation officer for Royal Caribbean international.

“You’ll find more share and more deck chairs,” he added.

The 250,800-ton ship will have capacity for over 5,600 guests at double occupancy, becoming the largest cruise ship in the world when it debuts in Miami in January 2024, sailing week-long cruises.

Guests will first be “wowed” by a massive multi-deck pearl structure when boarding the ship, which Schneider said would provide a jaw-dropping moment.

Royal Caribbean’s neighborhood concept will also be back, with new five areas and returning favorites, plus some tweaks.

The popular Central Park will be lusher, said Schneider, with 20 percent more greenery.

“Guests will also be able to see the ocean for the first time,” he said. Currently, on Oasis-class ships, Central Park sits in the middle of the superstructure, without ocean views.

Central Park will also feature a dedicated entertainment venue and Izumi, the company’s sushi and hibachi restaurant, will be in its biggest ever form in Izumi on the Park. Guests can dine in and there will also be a takeout window for a bento-box style experience.

In addition, the cruise line has worked hard on passenger flow, Schneider said, really trying to eliminate dead ends.

“There are dead ends on every cruise ship,” he continued. “We’ve tried to solve that here. The upper deck six mezzanine of the promenade is a complete 360.”

what makes World Europa's gross tonnage very close to Oasis of the Seas despite it being narrower and almost 100ft shorter? Is it the number of decks? Since World Europa has 22 while Oasis only has 18.

Icon #1

Wonder #2

MSC #3

(but then again never been on 1 or 3, just from visuals...)

same order with u. The thing that stands out with World Europa imo is its futuristic looking hull. Thats about it. I hope that the Icon has a long dry slide like the Ultimate Abyss on the Oasis Class ships.

There was a news report in German TV about that turtle shaped design study of a floating city. At the end the moved on to the Icon of the Seas saying the ship is buildt in a Lower Saxony shipyard....

Yes, Papenburg is in Lower Saxony. Yes, Meyer Werft is in Papenburg. But no, the ship is buildt by Meyer Turku in Turku, Finland...

Bear in mind the World Europa don't have decks 13 and 17, either way unlucky numbers for the US and Italy. That said the WE has actually 20 decks instead of 22!...

Yeah; two more decks and the absence of Central Park, being all that area a huge inside block on WE may explain the ship's tonnage similarities between WE and OoS!

Any renderings or construction photos of the Main Dining Room? On the deck plans it looks like it will be Massive!

This photo is the most we have seen at the minute. It looks to be spread over three decks, as usual with Oasis Class. Also looks to follow the same format as Oasis, with a large atrium in the centre and a smaller one on either side.

Question to those in the know:  Better to book Aft port or Starboard on Icon?  Lucky enough to do an aft suite on 12, just not sure which side to choose... Thank you

Until we have feedback from paying customers, unlikely anyone can answer that. Her itineraries probably won’t matter for that criteria.
