Onboard spending and mariner status

I have a couple of questions regarding the onboard spending and mariner status.  The website notes the calculations this way: "one bonus Cruise Day credit will be granted for each $300 in eligible onboard purchases. This is calculated on the combined folio charges for all guests on the booking, regardless of who signs each charge and who pays the bill. Only the first two guests on the booking receive the limit of one bonus day for each day sailed"

Feeling clueless....does this mean that the total amount spent is credited to both guests? So if we spend $1500 on board, we would both get 5 nights credited towards mariner status?

I prepurchased 2 excursions, the thermal  suite, soda package and Blend, for three passengers. So I am thinking I blew it and by prepaying for these items ($1200+) , I am leaving 4 cruise nights on the table. Is this correct?

It kind of matters to me......I have 14 days already, will gain 7 on this cruise, so I hate to lose these credits.

Do cruise excursions typically sell out? What about the thermal spa?  Should I cancel what I've purchased and buy on the ship?

Thank you.

Pre-purchases still get the spending credits!  I don't know about how it credits to the other guests though since I usually travel solo.  I have pre-purchased excursions, specialty restaurants and beverage packages and it was always counted for spending credits.

Those will count, whether you pay in advance or during the cruise. A small number of items do not count during the cruise, booking a future cruise, a cruise deposit, a cash advance.

Agree.   Your prepaid items will count for both of you 🙂

The other item that is not included for the spending for mariner status is the casino.

You’re find OP,  no worries at all 😄

You didn't blow it.

All those items you pre purchased ($1200 worth) will give you 4 days credit once you have completed your cruise.

Sounds like you will be on a 7 day cruise.  That means that you can spend another $900 to get the full 7 day extra credits.

You mentioned three people. If you're three in one cabin, I think only the first two get credit for onboard spending. If your third person is in a separate cabin he/she will not get the spending credit, but of course will get credit for the days on the cruise.

Plus, HAL is very generous in rounding up - for example, if you spend $1300, you likely (but not guaranteed) will get 5 credits.

The calculation must be extremely complicated. My Dec cruise has had spending points set as first 2, then down to 1 and then up to 3. I am afraid to look this weekend. The number might be zero.

Our last 4 cruises of 21, 26, 14, & 28 days, we have purchased the Signature Beverage Package.   On all 4 cruises, our Mariner spending credits have always equaled the number of days of the cruise, and we both received the same spending day credits.
