Qld13 Posted May 18, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2019 Hi I have been tracking Odyssey and noticed she has been in Genova since 12 May. Is she in for some work? If so does anyone know what is being done?
kowhairob Posted May 20, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Just checked ***** and it seems that they are in Dry dock . Interesting !
galeforce9 Posted May 20, 2019 #3 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Preparing for the Monaco Grand Prix takeover perhaps?
Tillylovesseabourn Posted May 20, 2019 #4 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Gale, of course. Yes the Ody is taken by Ferrari for the GP every year, so should be heading for Monte Carlo soon.
lincslady Posted May 20, 2019 #5 Share Posted May 20, 2019 And she leaves Monte Carlo next Monday on a regular cruise, so I think that pretty much proves it!
Qld13 Posted May 20, 2019 Author #6 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Hi Yes have also found out she has been chartered for the Grand Prix, didn’t know it was Ferrari. Thanks for replies
Tillylovesseabourn Posted May 20, 2019 #7 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Qld, yes they take her every year, or at least have done since the triplets retired.
jdk-atlga Posted May 21, 2019 #8 Share Posted May 21, 2019 All: I just saw pictures (posted on FB) where the Odyssey appears to be in dry dock. Now, it could be that the pictures are Photoshopped, but if not, then it counters the charter assumption. Does anyone really know? Jdk

Would be unusual if it isn't this year...
florisdekort Posted May 21, 2019 #10 Share Posted May 21, 2019 To my knowledge it’s both. Dry dock followed by the Ferrari charter. The dry dock is just mechanical, no changes for guests.
lincslady Posted May 22, 2019 #11 Share Posted May 22, 2019 If you look on Cruisemapper ( a very useful tool, IMO) you will see that she is already docked in Monte Carlo.
2SailingNomads Posted May 24, 2019 #12 Share Posted May 24, 2019 I have seen what occurs when it is taken over for the GP, several days of setup and takedown, they take over the entire ship and setup a lot on the pool deck and other places. And yes Mr. Ferrari charters it every year since the demise of the little sisters, which he used to charter one of - not sure which think It might have been the Legend, but I COULD BE WRONG on that..
Tillylovesseabourn Posted May 24, 2019 #13 Share Posted May 24, 2019 2Sailing, you are correct. It was the Legend they used to take.
lincslady Posted May 25, 2019 #14 Share Posted May 25, 2019 Lots of 'traffic' in Monaco today - in dock are Odyssey and SeaDream 2; anchored off, for two days, will be Silver Shadow, Star Pride and Azamara Journey.
Isklaar Posted May 25, 2019 #15 Share Posted May 25, 2019 Just watched a replay of yesterday's GP practice. As ever, it's good to get a glimpse of Odyssey there in the harbour.
bradtarga34 Posted June 8, 2019 #16 Share Posted June 8, 2019 Has anyone been onboard after the dry dock to confirm if anything was done onboard the ship as I would have thought any trip to dry dock they would try and do as much as possible and over a week they could do a surprising amount of work? M&PGermany Posted June 11, 2019 #17 Share Posted June 11, 2019 Dear all, Odyssey has indeed had some work done to the public areas in dry dock. We just got off the ship in Civi aka Rome. First of all, the ship looks completely new again from the outside - as white as on the first day. Inside the staterooms, new white marble furnishings were installed on the shelf facing the bed, inside the showers as well as the addition of automatic night lights under the nightstands, which were new as well. Also inside the hallways a lot of wooden walls were renovated, etc etc... so indeed they are trying to keep her in shape... what a lovely ship she is...

Qld13 Posted June 11, 2019 Author #21 Share Posted June 11, 2019 Hi We are on Odyssey in 3 weeks, great to know she has been spruced up for us!! As a matter of interest Encore has been in Palermo for 10 days and on vesselfinder was actually shown as being on land, she has just got back into the water now and back into it. we are also on her at the end of July so maybe she had a spruce up as well. Interested to know what she had done if anyone knows
patnlcc Posted June 11, 2019 #22 Share Posted June 11, 2019 We were on the Encore last month. Hubby had a nosebleed in the suite which unfortunately stained the carpet. Our stewardess told us not to worry as part of the refresh was to be new carpets in the suites. I don't know what else is being done.
