Live from the Sunrise 7/22 sailing review

We are staying in an Ocean Suite next door  to our daughter (also in an ocean suite - we had the divider opened) and two of their kids were staying in our room.  Closet space is tight, they obviously got creative with the space they had.  Again not a show stopper.

If you go with that attitude you will have a lousy time. Go with the expectation that you and your friends will have a great time. When the Sunshine was transformed from the Destiny the reviews were very negative and worse. If we had listened to the reviews we wouldn't have set foot on the ship. We wanted to form our own opinions and we wound up having two great cruises on her. BTW, we will also be on the Sunrise on 9/16 to Bermuda, plus the following cruise to New England and Canada B2B. See you on board! 😎

I'll second this!! I started looking at "reviews" of the Sunshine after we'd booked the TA cruise following the dry dock and handful of European cruises. The negative "reviews" started well before the dry dock was complete...some of the worst crap I've read on here..some stuff was just outright lies. Many other negative "reviews" were done by posters that never have, would or did sail on the Sunshine. Since, we've done that 16 day TA and 3 other 8+ day cruises on the Sunshine, is one of our favorite ships. I never base what I do or don't do cruise wise based on reviews from here on anywhere else.

We've got the Sunrise on our cruise radar to do hopefully in the near future. We sailed our first cruise on the Triumph, so would be fun to see how different she looks or feels. But I agree, go with open mind and plan on having a great time!!

I guess one could also say, if you don't have high expectations, then you may be pleasantly surprised.  I appreciate your feedback.  I know I'll have a good time but it's so frustrating seeing so many complaints.  I wish these cruise lines would realize that when they add more cabins without considering the crowd impact, it just doesn't improve anything other than their bottom line.

Everyone has to set their own expectations and evaluate the results.  I understand some of the negative comments, that said, to date, the Sunrise feels no more crowded than any other Carnival ship we have been on.  I will not get into common space take away here now, other than to say from my viewpoint, it is as not being used to capacity and now is.

Can you tell me what the easiest way to get to the top of the water slides is? I'm looking at the deck plans and it's not making a lot of sense. It seems to me you have to walk through cabin hallways to the forward most elevators and take those from Deck 10 to Deck 14. So you're sloshing water everywhere. I don't see a way to get there otherwise from the pool area.

I have not looked but will, I very much doubt you have to go thru internal hallways

I looked today and there are only two.  Tried to take a pic and got scolded.  Will try again when in port in San juan tomorrow (and it will be empty).

I'd like to add my  2 cents to this discussion.  I was on the Sunrise from July 10 to July 18.  I read some of the negative reviews before I left and started to get nervous.  I can't say it was my best cruise or my worst cruise, but it was ok.  The ship was on the small side, which needed some getting used to as I have recently been on very big ships.  The main problem on the Sunrise is the configuration of the ship.  It was always difficult getting around, up a flight to go down and around to get to the dining room! The ship was way over crowded, too many people for the size of the ship.  There was always a long line at the buffet, regardless of what time it was!  With that being said, we altered our plans to make our experience a good one.  Went to the pool early to get chairs, avoided the buffet and had the sit down breakfast or brunch (which was very good).  Got to shows early to make sure we had a seat.  The food in the dining room was very good, excellent choices every day.  Guys burgers were great! The entertainment was just ok.  A disappointment was that the Comedy Show (The Punch liner) had poor air conditioning.  We went there a few times and it was a little too warm to stay for the show.  Carnival needs to work on the air circulation on the ship.  There were several areas where the air conditioning was not working the way it should be!!  They also were not organized when it came to the muster drill.  They didn't start it for at least a half hour after the scheduled time.  Just hope they are better organized in the case of a real emergency!  All in all, we still had a nice time!

Hope you are having a great time -

1. How many zeros are on the roulette wheel - have the introduced the 3rd zero??

2. Are the photos digital - can you buy them in the hub like on dream and vista class?? Or are they on paper and you have to look for them??

Thanks - we are on in under 4 weeks!

Just the two zeros (0 and 00).  No the photos are not digital which surprised me.

So tell us.....is it the worst ship in the world?

Not even close, that said,  I will give all my thoughts at the end of the review.  But I def would sail the Sunrise again and we are booked on the Radiance for the TA.  Nuff said on that for now.

Wow, that is very surprising.

Probably the most surprising thing we have found so far.  I actually brought it up at the Diamond event last night and they did not know either.
