red devil Posted August 3, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2019 Does Royal still use the WOW Bands? If the do what is the cost? Thanks Dick
Clarea Posted August 3, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2019 Royal uses WOW bands on only the newest ships. Cost is $5 at Guest Services. You still need a SeaPass card to exit and enter the ship.
katiel53 Posted August 3, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2019 I know you didn't ask about using them, but I wanted to relate our experience with them on Harmony. That trip I sailed with my sister and we got them at Guest Services. Her band didn't work at all. She had to go back to get a new one. I had trouble with mine in the casino as it didn't register most times. I ended up using my Sea Pass to build my points. I also had trouble with using it with a bartender/waiter as I was not close enough to a scanner to have the band register. The last full day on the ship, my sister's band wouldn't open the cabin door. It started the night before as I had gone to the cabin before she did and she couldn't get in. I opened the door for her and thought it was a fluke and it would work the last day. No way, it didn't work at all. My thought is that they are probably good for kids to be able to open the cabin door and they can swim with them. For me, I just felt the WOW band was a cheap imitation of those used at Disney and didn't work as well as I expected, but maybe I expect too much from them. I've used them twice and never had issues with them. I guess I can report back in a few weeks after my Symphony cruise.

I am really sorry that your sister had those difficulties. I have used them on Anthem and Harmony and love them. Please keep in mind, people, as you read this, that others have had the experience of their SeaPass card failing. Just for comparison. 🙂
mooseman52b Posted August 5, 2019 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2019 Never had issues with the WoW bands on 4 cruises. We have had issues with the set sail passes a couple of times.

ksmommy5 Posted August 25, 2019 #10 Share Posted August 25, 2019 Thinking of purchasing a band for my upcoming cruise on Harmony. Question: is this concept essentially paying 5$ to not wear a lanyard? Because I want one anyways but when my mom asked what they were for an I told her its basically a magic band, she mentioned that logic.

Rare vacationlover_mn Posted August 25, 2019 #14 Share Posted August 25, 2019 We loved our wow bands! I really hope they get them on the Oasis refurb, but understand that it is not likely, since they’d have to redo every stateroom door 😞
