Chris,

Just got back from Anthem and had a casino offer for Oasis but not until end of May. Sorry I won't get to see you. Quick question for you.

In the past if I was just short of the next level future cruise certificate the Casino Host would be more than happy to upgrade my certificate. On the last two cruises I have been told that is not possible and that I would need to call Casino Royale when I get home to take care of it. On Empress I pushed back. I was at 2380 points at closing of the casino last night of a five night voyage and was told by the host that its not up to him. Leaving the casino (where everyone knew me) the Casino Manager said that he hoped to see me soon as I spent to so much time there and didn't throw a fit when I lost (which I did a lot on that trip). My response to him was a polite "I think I might try another cruise line for a change". He literally came running after me to ask why and when I explained it to him he grabbed me by the arm to one of his phones to fix it. This time I ended up at 2182 and was told flat out no by Alex on Anthem. I didn't fight it as I am getting so many offers that are better than what is on the current "inside cabin list".

So my question is this...does the casino host have the ability to give an upgraded cert or not?

Thank you and keep up on the videos...I love them and look forward to them.

Your certificate is also based on your wins/loss. So there maybe occasions where we can issue you a certificate, even if you haven't achieved the points.

But this all worked out by our computer system. We can only issue you the certificate our computer allocates to you.

Great politically correct answer.

I took a loss on this cruise. The host said it didn’t matter.

Interesting thread.  Thank you.

When you mention 'all tips go into a pool' does that mean the extra tips above prepaid gratuities?

We always give our room steward and assistant cash tips and I have asked if they are allowed to keep.  I don't think they understand my question.

Yes, for example, tips the dealers get from the tables all go into a pool.

I'm not sure how it works with other departments.

Yes, I can't wait to see the Oasis class. I hope I get a lot of opportunities to make new videos.

Do you have any extra workload during turnaround day?

And I assume there's a special procedure when you sign on a ship and sign off for the last time?

I have passenger drill on turnaround. I'm the guy scanning your cards into the muster station.

Yes, there's basically paper work to complete, and we get our passport s back. We also have to clean our cabins, and make sure everything is ready for the next crew member moving in. All of this gets checked by our supervisors. We will also get our end of contract evaluations, and potentially even our next ship assigned to us.

So slight change of plan.

Instead of flying to Spain, to join Oasis for the crossing, I'll be joining the ship now once it arrives in Fort Lauderdale.

So, I'll be flying to Miami now from Orlando in 2 weeks. I much prefer this!

Does this mean you have 2 more weeks on the Mariner?

I have a question regarding the casino free cruise.  How much $$ does one need to lose in order to get a free cruise offer, or does it just go by how many hours you gamble?  I have 2 daughters who are constantly getting free cruises from the casino.  They must be down a bundle on each cruise!  Thanks

Is there a way to establish Casino Royale creds before stepping on board?  It's been a few years, but I spend almost every late night of a cruise in the casino.  Since moving to Florida, I am at our local casino 2-3x per week playing blackjack.  Can we forward our casino loyalty info/history ahead of time, or do we just see a casino host on our first night?

One of the things we really enjoy about cruising is meeting crew from so many different countries, and occasionally being able to have some conversations about their homes and families.

I'm wondering, though, if such questions might be considered rude (intrusive) in some cultures.  I don't want to overstep my bounds!

When we give cruises away on the ship, it is based on how many points you get that cruise.

Free cruises sent in the mail is done by Club Royale head office.

Yes, see the Casino Host on the first night - as the program has changed a lot quite recently.

Nothing about flying in post #289

Chris was going to board Oasis in Spain before TA and was going to fly. Now that his schedule has been changed to board Oasis in Miami, I’m not so sure they will fly him. I was thinking maybe Greyhound or Shuttle.

It’s nearly the same amount of time to drive to Miami in some form from PC. To fly is at least 2 hours to board  (still needing transportation) In Orlando, getting through TSA. A short flight to Miami which I have done many times still takes more than an hour to board, taxi, takeoff, land, and reverse. Not sure there is any time savings to fly versus land transportation.
