Sea-Bos Posted September 30, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2019 Cruised around everywhere and couldn’t seem to find the answer. Thanks.
freestyling Posted September 30, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2019 My guess is 3 gala nights.
sailingdutchy Posted September 30, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2019 How many Sea Days do you have ? For 10 days I would think 2 Gala Nights .
cruzn single Posted September 30, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2019 I am on the same cruise as you are on. I was going to say just 2, but looking at the itinerary, it very possibly could be 3 nights. I wouldn’t want to say definitively either way. I have been on 10 day cruises with 3, and I have been on 10 day cruises with only 2. Sorry, I can’t say for sure because of the way the itinerary plays out. That sea day before the Canal is the “wild card.”

I like to take a dress for each formal night but my husband went and lost enough weight that none of his suits fit so I guess we won’t be dressing up as much anyway. 😢 always love that part.. cruzn single Posted September 30, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2019 (edited) Just found the answer—on boarding pass. Two Gala nights. Your husband will be fine with a pair of “docker” type of slacks and a collared shirt. This per HAL. Krazy Kruizers Posted September 30, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 30, 2019 Formal nights are gone. They are now called Gala nights. The majority of the men wear slacks and a collared shirt. On that cruise which we have done a few times -- just 2 Gala nights. There was a time when there used to be 3 gala nights.
mamaofami Posted September 30, 2019 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2019 On a 12 day cruise on the Zuiderdam starting Sept. 15th, we had 2 gala nights. I would guess you would have 2 also.
Himself Posted September 30, 2019 #9 Share Posted September 30, 2019 Are suit Coats required for Gala nights?

Riversedge Posted September 30, 2019 #11 Share Posted September 30, 2019 I think how many men wear jackets varies from cruise to cruise. On our Voyage of Vikings most men wore jackets on gala nights at fixed seating. Not required, but most did. Can’t speak for open seating because it was on a different deck. shipshapegirl Posted September 30, 2019 #12 Share Posted September 30, 2019 (edited) We are going on the Volendam for 9 nights November 11th. Our boarding passes say 2 Gala Nights. I would think your cruise would be the same. Edited September 30, 2019 by shipshapegirl

Men at Open seating early (5:15 to 6:00) are less likely to wear a jacket than those eating 7:00 to 9:00.

wdw1972 Posted October 1, 2019 #15 Share Posted October 1, 2019 It used to be 3 nights many years ago, but then HAL dropped it to 2 formal nights...then 2 gala nights. Same is true for the 11-night itineraries. Sue/WDW1972
RuthC Posted October 1, 2019 #16 Share Posted October 1, 2019 The number of Gala nights increases from two to three at something around the 13- or 14-night cruise mark. Then increases to four around 21- or 22 days.
